Solid computer speakers

I've had a Bose Companiin II set for about 8 years that performed admirably until I was using them in a large hall to supplement a presentation's audio. A sudden surge damaged the main speaker. I decided to replace them with the Companion III based on performance of the IIs. All the functions and performance are similar to the II, easy to set up, a port for attaching headphones and excellent performance. Very pleased.

Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers Rock

I received the Companion 2 Series III speakers a couple of weeks ago and love them. I do film and video editing professionally and these speakers are all I need for my audio. They have a great high as well as low response. It took a little while to equalize them out on my computer but now they sound better than my older Bose Companion 5 speakers that were 4 times the price. The price on these are unbelievable. I would expect them to me at least twice the price. This is a must buy whether you do professional video editing or just want some nice speakers for your regular computer system.

Sound not balanced. Too heavy in the bass

Was very disappointed in the sound of these speakers. The sound tones were not balanced at all. They were way to heavy in the bass and that drounded out the mid tones and high tones. Also the sound comes at you like sledgehammer and I found it very piercing and jolting and not enjoyable at all!! It was most unpleasant to listen to these speakers.

Simplicity, thy name is Bose

I limped along for years with what-had-been a gorgeous sound system from Cambridge Soundworks. The hookups to the speakers had lost essential parts so I rigged it together. The trouble was the house cleaner jarred it every two weeks and I had to pull out the duck tape and fix it AGAIN! Finally, my Bose Quiet Comfort earbuds convinced me to stop messing around and get real speakers. These Bose speakers are the real deal. Simple, reliable, gorgeous sound. I wish they had a bit more base but I can live with what I have quite happily.

Compact small footprint system with decent, usable sound at a fair price. Easy setup and useful control (on/off-volume).

question

I've just ordered it. In order to have better listening, can I use digital to analog converter ? If yes, any recommendation that is compatible with Bose Companion 2 series III ?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am so very sorry, but I am not able to help with this concern. I purchased these speakers to use with a computer I purchased the same day. My knowledge of these speakers and how else they might be used outside of what I purchased them for is nil. I am not a technical savvy individual.I must say though, I am more than happy with the sound quality of this product; as Bose have never disappointed me with their speaker systems. I have been using their products since 1980.

Hi Lucy, Thanks for the great question! The connection on the Companion 2 series III speaker system is a 3.5mm connection. So it would really depend on the Macbook that you are connecting it to. Regards, Tony G - Bose Support
