The 4 Socket Fluorescent Adapter from Impact was designed to turn the single socket FF-S1 Fluorescent Fixture into a 4-lamp fixture that accepts Edison-base compact fluorescent lamps. Screw in four 105W CFL bulbs and you now have a single unit with a total light output of 420W.
can I use LED bulbs with this?
can I use LED bulbs with this?
It's a standard socket, no reason you can't use LED bulbs with a standard thread.

My current Fluorescent socket is rated for a max of 85w - if I add this will I still be limited to 85w total, or would 4x 85w be safe?
A total of 85 watts.

question
will this fit in the SP-UM with a 10 or 12 reflector?
I bought the 12 reflector to check. The 4 socket adapter does fit inside and screws into the SP-UM fine. I have 4 Eiko 40w CFL's and all this fits inside the reflector. They all stick out way past the reflector, but not restricted from using it.. I am curious to find out if the 105w CFL's fit next to each other in this 4 socket adapter, or if the adapter sockets are not spread out enough.

question
Are the sockets plastic or ceramic?
They are hard plastic components and as such, make for a lighter adapter. So far they have performed well.

question
Will this work with the Impact SP-UM fixture?
Yes! It will work with the SP-UM fixture, tight and secured. If you use it with the floodlight reflector (that comes with the kit) it will work fine, but if you want to use the fixture with the adapter and an umbrella, you have a big chance that the umbrella will interfere with one the bulbs attached to the adapter and you might not be able to tighten it up securely to the fixture (it happened to me on all three fixtures). Not a big deal... it will still work, or you can just not use that socket (attach 3 bulbs to the adapter) and tighten it up. I still think it is a steal compared to the 4-socket fixtures ($99... are you kidding me?).Recommended.
