Tripp Lite LCR2400 Overview

The LCR2400 Automatic AC Voltage Regulator from Tripp Lite supports loads up to 2,400W (20A) and protects sensitive electronics, computer accessories, home theater equipment, A/V components, sound reinforcement, and point-of-sale equipment from power-related damage and performance problems. It extends the useful life of connected equipment by providing optimum voltage for enhanced efficiency and cooler internal temperatures.

The regulator's voltage correction circuits maintain 120 VAC nominal output during voltage fluctuations between 89 and 147 VAC. Three levels of voltage stabilization offer targeted response for over-voltages, under-voltages and severe brownouts. The regulator features 14 AC outlets arranged in two separately filtered banks, 12' AC line cord, and 7 diagnostic LEDs that display incoming voltage level, surge suppression, and line status.

Automatically adjusts low or high voltage
Maintains usable 120 VAC nominal output during brownouts as low as 87 VAC and over-voltages as high as 140 VAC
2,400W continuous output power rating supports heavy 120 VAC loads up to 20A
Compatible with 2 or 4-post 19" rack mount applications
Convenient rack mount format uses only 3 rack spaces (3U)
Network-grade AC surge and EMI/RFI noise suppression
ISOBAR level surge and noise suppression with two isolated filter banks to prevent noise interaction of connected items
Complete EMI/RFI noise filtering

Purchased to smooth flow from emergency generator

In preparing for hurricane season I tuned up the emergency generator and re-stocked my survival supplies. This generator carried us for 8 days the last hurricane. Then my wife says: "if it eats a circuit board in our high-tech fridge again I want a whole new fridge". I went to the generator manual and it says that one must use a 'line conditioner' for delicate electronics. Since we have a new flat-screen TV since last emergency use, I figured we don't want to purchase a new refrigerator AND a new TV. Hence, this purchase. Have tested it for a full 4 hour run and, so far, no blown circuits boards. Hah! the fridge stays! This thing is HEAVY! It must have a lot of stuff inside.

Consumer Need

The informed consumer realizes the need for spike and surge protection. Very few realize that voltage fluctuations can also be harmful. I have use Tripp Lite products for over 20 years professionally. (Isobar Utlra devices) In that time, I have had one failure and that failure was caused by extreme voltage fluctuations. The cause was a bad 30,000 watt generator. The LCR2400 failed in the effort to correct the extreme and severe problem, but my gear was not harmed. The interesting thing about the LCR2400 is that line fluctuations you did not know exist are now displayed. This allows the user to make an informed decision that will prevent failures and damage. It would be a good idea to put line voltage Level Meters on all Tripp Lite products. The LCR2400 is a useful professional and consumer device.

Works as advertised

Tripp-Lite LCR2400, 2400 Watt 3U rack-Mount Power Conditioner works as advertised. It provides protection and very stable voltage to my expensive stereo equipment. But Tripp-Lite seems to be missing the boat, by not building this unit in a more attractive case for the Audio File and Home Theater community which could be a gold mine for Tripp-Lite. Example; Remove the duplex outlet on the front panel, remove the circuit breaker from the front and put it on the back side. Redo the readout lights on the front panel replacing some with a LED digital voltage meter plus install a 12 volt output trigger to power on attached equipment on the LCR2400. The Trip-Lite logo should be reduced in size and placed off to the side. The price would naturally need to be increased by at least $100 but well worth the extra money.

Great power conditioner

I use this on my live gig rag to power up powered speakers, sub, mixer, mic pre-amp, wireless mic transmitter, external effect box, power speaker control box, 2 keyboards, and 1 sound module. Without this box, it was messy with many power strips, and the sounds seem always something wrong at loud volume. Now with this wonderful power condition / regulator box, sound quality improves, so clear, clean, and tight. And plus it is so neat to power on and off such equipments. Highly recommended for live gig rack mount.

So Far So Good!

My band bought one unit (and a 4u rack case to put it in) to try out. Our first job using it was at a large hotel in one of their many ballrooms. The 12' power cord wasn't long enough and so I had to add an extension cord to reach the wall outlet. Other than that, the unit ran fine all night and showed us that the hotel was providing good power. We now plan to buy a second unit to cover the rest of the band. The unit feels solid and should last many years.
