TRENDnet TC-CT68 Reviews

2nd one purchased

This is a great cut, strip and crimp tool. I have used it for both rj45 and rj11 connections. Cutting is easy, the blades are sharp. Stripping the jacket is relatively easy, just be sure not to squeeze hard, or you'll cut the copper inside. It didn't take long to get used to. Crimping connectors is quite easy, the only issue I have doing so is often unlocking the connector by twisting the release circle - it can take a few tries, but ultimately only takes an extra second or two. This is the 2nd of these I have purchased and both work well.

Used to cut Cat 5e cable, and crimp RJ45 connectors without the shield or ground wire. Worked well, but instructions in the set would have been very helpful.

A handy tool for the DIY folks

A good basic crimper

I borrowed one of these a while back and then found myself needing it again, so bought my own. The same crimper is available generically under a variety of names and prices. I went with B&H for the PayBoo card tax savings, free shipping, and great B&H service. In the end, the price was a wash. I found the stripper feature did not work well out of the box on some kinds of cable. The crimper works OK, but it seems I should be able to achieve a bit more squeeze. This crimper doesn't have the built-in wire trimmer for doing pass-thru connectors. While I only have regular connectors, having to fiddle with the tiny guide and sled made me wish I had a few pass-thru type to try out.

This tool works fine. I am glad I didn't spend more thinking I might need to.
