The VGA Extender over CAT 5/6 with Audio enables extending transmission of VGA signals with stereo audio up to 1000' over a single CAT 5e/6 cable. The extender supports signal resolutions up to WUXGA and both the transmitter and receiver feature 3.5mm audio jacks, allowing you to embed audio in the signal traveling over the UTP cable and then de-embed the audio at the receiver's end.

KanexPro VGAEXTX Overview

The VGA Extender over CAT 5/6 with Audio enables extending transmission of VGA signals with stereo audio up to 1000' over a single CAT 5e/6 cable. The extender supports signal resolutions up to WUXGA and both the transmitter and receiver feature 3.5mm audio jacks, allowing you to embed audio in the signal traveling over the UTP cable and then de-embed the audio at the receiver's end.

The receiver features separate gain and peaking rotary switches for adapting to various cable lengths. The transmitter offers an additional VGA port for local display, which allows you to monitor the video being sent as data. The output module performs buffering to reject noise interference. The VGA Extender is rack- or under-desk-mountable and includes two power supplies that provide the required 5 VDC for operation.

Does a mini display port to VGA adapter that effect the EDID communication?

Using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter will not disable to EDID compliance.
