Novoflex NEX/MIN-AF Reviews

Great for manual iris control - but...

We use this on our FS100 as an alternative to the Sony Alpha to E Mount adapter. It's really well made and works flawlessly. BUT, there is one issue with it (which isn't the fault of the adapter) - the iris control is backwards from standard video lenses. Not a huge issue, takes a little bit to get used to - but can throw you off at times when you go to adjust exposure on the fly. I'd highly recommend it for anyone doing video work with Sony Alpha glass - it's a must have really. Since all of the Sony branded lenses focus and zoom 'correctly' for video work (i.e. the way video and film lenses do), having manual iris control that doesn't rely on the 'clackity-clack' one stop at a time nonsense the Sony adapter has, is well WELL worth the price. We also have a VG20 - but unfortunately the adapter doesn't quite fit right on it (it won't lock on to the body). I don't know if it's just the one we have or if all of them are the same, but it just doesn't lock. I'm sure with some very small modification it would be fine, but just a warning if you are looking to use it on the VG20/30 - it may not lock on the body.

I use this mostly with my FS 700. This adapter is pricey, but its solid, has no play and is built to last... Its for pros.

question

Wanted to clarify question about fitting FF A-mount glass to a FF E-mount body: does the adapter fully support FF image size or does it cause any cropping or vignetting?
Asked by: Alexander T.
This Novoflex adapter would allow one to mount full frame A-mount lenses onto a full frame E-mount camera. The adapter is designed for use with full frame lenses and cameras and should not cause vignetting when using a full frame A-Mount lens on a full frame E-mount camera.

question

Will this work with the Sony FS7?
Asked by: Peter
Yes, that will work. But it does not transmit any electronics. So if the lens is not a manual lens it will be.If you are using lenses that do have autofocus it would be a much better option to use Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black), B&H # SOLAEA4 MFR # LAEA4.

question

this can work with Minolta AF lens to Sony A6300 ?
Asked by: francisley
No! This adapter is for Minolta's manual focus lenses, which is a different mount. Minolta AF mount lenses work with Sony A to E mount adapters like the Sony LA-EA3 adapter... This is because Sony bought Minolta's camera division some years ago, so Minolta AF lenses are Sony A mount lenses.
