Wacom KP701E2 Overview

Not all tablet pens are created equal. The Art Pen from Wacom replicates the feel and experience of a classical felt marker, but with all the advantages for working digitally in graphics applications, such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Painter. With a unique 360° rotation sensitivity, you can rotate the barrel of the pen and your Wacom tablet will recognize it. With this rotation sensitivity, you can use the included chisel nib tip to create unique paintbrush-like effects in Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop. The chisel tip also allows you to emulate markers and calligraphic pens.

Beyond barrel sensitivity, the pen features pressure and tilt sensitivities to provide you with even more capabilities. In any of the supported paint or photo programs, these sensitivities come in handy when you need to adjust line weight, brush size, image opacity, or exposure. Moreover, you get a more fluid, natural feel when working. However, if you find that the pressure or tilt sensitivities aren't to your liking, you can easily customize either on your computer.

As a nice added touch, an eraser crowns the top of the pen, so that you can digitally erase your work as you go along. In terms of accessories, you'll find two chisel-tipped nibs, two chisel-tipped felt nibs, three bullet-tipped nibs, three bullet-tipped felt nibs, and a convenient nib extractor for quickly switching out nibs. Also included is a pen stand that can hold the pen, some spare nibs, and the extractor.

Bought for the Rotation Function, but little Difference

When I read that the Art Pen has rotation data output, I figured this would give additional flexibility in Painter. However, I find it to be functionally identical to the regular pen. I will continue to explore software configuration to make sure I'm utilizing its full capabilities, but at the moment, it seems to have little to not advantage over the standard pen. Like the regular pen, the rubber grip rapidly gets dirty and shows the dirt, requiring wiping several times a day to keep it looking nice. The base stores the pen vertically, instead of at an angle, which makes picking up and placement a little awkward compared with the original Wacom pen holders. The upright angle means the top of the pen gets into the field of view of the monitor if it is stored in front of the monitor on the desk. I need more time to get familiar with this pen, but I'll say that it works fine for now.

I bought the art pen because I watched a Lynda.com video about it, so I figured I’d try it. It works well but the rubber grip collects dust. Other than that I highly recommend.

This pen stands out from the regular pen because of it barrel roll tilt ability. Not every line is up down...often times it's in around forward backwards etc....great for digital painting

Needed a replacement pen when mine broke. This one works with my Intuos Pro tablet. When you divide the cost by how many years these pens last, the price is super reasonable. Fast shipping!

I am really enjoying using the Art Pen for Photoshop. It gives so much better control over the cursor than I had with the mouse. Being an Art m Major in the past I really appreciate the feel of having this pen in my hand.

I heard great things about this pen and it was highly recommended. It works great but in the end I don't see much difference to my Wacom pen that came with my 10 year old tablet - overall as expected but maybe I just thought it would be a greater improvement to the normal pen I have.

I need replacement nibs for my Wacom Art Pen ...

I need replacement nibs for my Wacom Art Pen (KP701E2). The holder has replacements but they are far too small. I want a replacement for the one that came with it originally.

Funny this question showed up in my inbox. I was having a conversation with a fellow student of an online art class I am taking. She looked in her stand and had no nibs, she posted about it, so I looked in my stand, and I have no nibs either. So I can't answer you but you should contact Wacom, I will be.
