I used Nikon 14-24 on a Canon 6D body for night work. I've tried many other options before this expensive one, what I can say is it's worth it. No play between the lens and the camera. It's extremely important for me.

leaving on the camera and mounting lenses to it

I received a request to answer a question about this product, did so and then could not submit it because the ipad app was faulty. So I'll answer it here. Someone wanted to leave the adapter on the camera and swap multiple lenses to it as opposed to leaving it on the lens and mounting it to the body like a normal lens. My response: I can only give you an indirect opinion based on my use of the Nikon to Canon adapter, mounting a Nikon 14-24 lens to a Canon 5D Mk II. First, the adapter works fine as long as you don't mind using manual focus and losing the aperture info in the viewer. The light meter and shutter settings work fine. It's an approximate aperture setting which is fine for me. I leave it at about f/11 - I set it originally by comparing readings with another lens - and I leave it for the most part. It's sturdy and seems a good value. Now to your question: I don't know what the manufacturer recommends, but I would say you will find it very inconvenient to leave it on your camera and swap different lenses to it. Reason being that the fit to the lens is very snug. There is a rubber seal that makes the initial mounting quite a careful operation. I needed to apply a firm and even pressure for that initial mount. Granted, since I'm using it with one lens, I have no need to leave it on the camera but if I did, mounting lens would not be the slap it on that it usually is. If the rubber seal lost some of its stiffness over time, through continual mounting/dismounting, I'd worry about light leak or loose fit. I think you would find it slow and frustrating at best.

Perfect adaptor for my usage

Astrophotography is my niche and I couldn't get by with my canon 5d mark 3 without the Nikon 14-24 2.8 (best wide angle zoom on the market IMHO). I bought this adapter to use this lens with my Mark iii. The novoflex works perfectly. Tight fit with ability to manually change the aperture to wide open, which is what I need. You still need to manually focus the lens but all lenses used in astrophotography need to be manually focused. For me, it's perfect. Just wish it was a little cheaper. Very good quality metal. Built to last.

This is a very well made adapter that allows us to use our great Nikon glass on Canon bodies. The 'thumb' adapter ring works great. Pretty easy to on, and just push the clip to take it off.Works well.

Good but beware

I have had this adapter for a little over a year now, and it broke on my in the middle of a shoot today. I was using it on my Canon C300, along with my Nikon 24-70 lens. The mount literally broke apart (The tiny screws all came lose, and the aperture metal ring bent, rendering the adapter unusable). Luckily, I have two and could continue shooting. Just beware of how much weight you put on this, and always carry a spare...

This does what it is supose to do.

I use this with the Nikar 14mm-24mm lens on a Canon Mark 3 body. It works perfectly without flaws. I have not used more economical options so I cannot state that this is better. I can state it works seemless and with ease. The only downside is some uncertainy what aperture opening you are using. I use this combination wide open for astroscape imaging so that does not affect me.

I was looking for different adapters for my lenses and this was the perfect one for my C300 and Nikon lenses. I have utilized my 18-200 and 24-70 2.8 Nikon lenses with it. It can be a little difficult to adjust the blue adjusting aperture lever and go blind with what the aperture really is, but using my 24-70 lens is definitely worth it.

For B&H Photo: I want to use my Nikon as-f 300mm f4 ED IF lens on a Canon t3i body. 1. Will this work? 2. Will I be able to shoot manually with the aperture set to F4?
Asked by: Rudy
Yes, the Novoflex EOS/NIK-NT Lens Adapter for Nikon G Type Lenses to Canon EOS DSLR Cameras, B&H # NOLANGC, would allow you to connect the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED Lens to the Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR Camera. Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or any other functions, are not retained using this adapter. The adapter does not transfer any function from the camera body to the lens. As such, you will have to focus the lens manually, and you will use the aperture ring lever on the lens adapter to control the lens aperture. As the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4D IF-ED Lens has a maximum aperture of f/4, if the aperture lever on the lens adapter is set wide open, then the lens will shoot at its f/4 maximum aperture.

question

What is the best technique for removing this adapter from the body of the camera (in my case the canon c300 video camera)? The adapter appears to be on there very tightly.
Asked by: Anonymous
In my experience; always remove from body first - then remove adapter from lens.
