Im looking to record ambient room audio in ...

Im looking to record ambient room audio in churches mostly during wedding ceremonies. I see mostly people using it for podcasting and music recording. Will it work well the way i want to use it in this scenario?
Asked by: Elliott
I would not consider this mic for ambient recording at a wedding ceremony, but instead would use a stereo mic set up to. Two small diaphragm mics, such as the Rode M5 Compact 1/2" Condenser Microphone (Matched Pair), BH #ROM5MP on a stand facing each other in an X/Y pattern would be a good solution. You would put the two mics on to a K&M 23550 Adjustable Microphone Bar, BH #KM23550, and on to a mic stand, such as the Auray MS-5230F Tripod Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom, BH #AUMS5230F. Aim this at the audience or the front of the church to pick up a good area of coverage. If you need wider coverage, face the two mics away form each other on the stereo bar. .

Could the XLR cable connect straight to my phone ...

Could the XLR cable connect straight to my phone to record music, or do I have to buy a different wire or thing to connect it straight to my phone? I don't have a laptop and I want to record on my phone, can you please give me info. Thank you.
Asked by: Alexis
You can connect the NT1-A to your phone using a battery-powered mobile interface such as the IK Multimedia iRig Pre Microphone Interface (B&H# IKIRIGPRE). The interface will supply phantom power for the mic and then send the audio into the phone. The iRig Pre has an attached cable with a 3.5mm TRRS connector for smartphones and also works with a Lightning adapter for compatibility with iPhones. The interface includes a headphone jack with volume control to monitor the audio while recording. There are many other similar options with the same types of features, and some with additional features for connecting a second mic or instrument. Please feel free to contact us directly and we can help you to select the best options for your needs.

have you already sent to Brazil? Does it get expensive with taxes?
Asked by: Bruno
Depends on why you are sending to Brazil. If the item is a gift then it's not taxed as an imported good, however it will still run you about $50-75 USD via USPS depending on box size for packing. Otherwise check with Br customs on taxes, it can absolutely be pricey and a hassle as their post is all gov run.

question

What is the mount size for this microphone. I'm wanting to use a desktop mic stand?
Asked by: Anonymous
This mic and its accompanying mount require a standard mic screw mount. This is a large, heavy mic that needs the support of a good stand, and will require an external mixer before feeding signal to a computer.

question

Do you need headphones, a stand?
Asked by: Anonymous
The shockmount supplied with the NT-1A will require a stand to mount on. The type whether desk or Floor standing will depend on your application. Headphones are necessary during the recording process and there are many models available. Closed Back headphones such as the Sony MDR-7506 are popular and will have very little sound leakage. http://bhpho.to/1cf5xp0

Looking to record low level ambient sound like ...

Looking to record low level ambient sound like birds and frogs. Good choice to use 2 of these one facing each direction?
Asked by: Rodney
The RODE NT1-A Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone works best when placed approximately 6 to 12" from the sound source. A better option may be the Audio-Technica AT8022 X/Y Stereo Phantom and Battery Powered Field Microphone (B&H # AUAT8022) or the Audio-Technica BP4025 X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone (B&H # AUBP4025), which are both popular for recording nature sounds.
