Speedotron SN7 Overview

This Speedotron Universal Snoot for 7" Reflectors is specifically designed for use on the reflector of a flash head, or tungsten light.

Snoots, barndoors, grids, and filters are essential accessories for any lighting system. These devices alter the shape, intensity, or color of the light output from your flash heads. Consider them as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife or chisel.

Attached to the front of your light source, a snoot will create a small circle of light. The size of the circle will be determined by the size of the opening of the snoot, its length, and the distance to the subject.

Aside from a delivery issue, the slightly bent base plate and the sharp metal edges from the snoot, I suspect the snoot will work as expected.

A must have

Your imagination and a snoot can go along way. A snoot seems like a one-hit wonder, but there are many uses for light control. We use it for products, portraits, weddings, etc. This is a well build products that will last years if you don't shoot fireworks out of it.

Worked great. Used it on our Impact lights we purchased at B&H. I ordered them at WPPI on Monday morning and had them ready for use on Wednsday.

Fits Fine

The Speedotron snoot fits my 7 inch grid reflector fine. It snaps onto the outer edge of the reflector rim. It fits fine, but it leaves tiny scratch marks on the black finish of the reflector outer rim. It would be nice if they put some little rubber covers over the clips on the snoot to keep from scratching paint. It's a small detail. Maybe I can find some small plastic sections of tubing myself to put over the clips. But, this is only an issue if you have really new reflectors. Or, you can get the dedicated snoot reflector. The dedicated snoot reflector looks black on the inside too. I don't own one. But, the snoot works fine other than that detail. Also, the snoot base can bend easily in traveling. So, you need a good case if you travel. But, it's made reasonably sturdy. If they had one that didn't bend easily it would be too heavy.

The light coming out isn't not quite as focused as I hoped.

question

The other item in the picture is used to attach it to a strobe I believe? Would that fit on a PCB WL?
Asked by: Gary
The shoot comes as one piece item only. The circular disk in the picture is the bottom-view of the shoot. The diameter of the bottom shoot with the clips is 7.
