Novoflex BALL-30 Reviews
If not for the knob...
Beautiful and well constructed. My complaint centers on the comfort of the knob, which is a hard plastic and since the ballhead has no friction control (no complaints with this per se), and hence one feels the need to secure it tightly every time, you really feel it in your index finger or whatever finger you use to tighten. Change the knob and it’s a vast improvement. Otherwise a solid well built option at excellent price point and since it uses no grease will perform in really cold weather. Very practical. Love that it’s made in Germany.
Needs some tension when unlocked
A small but relatively expensive ball head that is well made with one very important exception: as soon as the tension knob is turned to release tension, the ball just flops over with no tension at all-- a good way to ruin lenses I think. I tried it out briefly and returned it. The Giottos small ball head MH 1003 is a better controlled head at less than 1/2 the price of this Novoflex, IMHO-- though in fairness the Novoflex is larger than the Giottos.
I would but this again
As I travel a lot for my wildlife photography I love the compactness and light weight features of the model
Small but MIGHTY
I wasn't too sure this little ball head would hold my Canon Mark III with the Canon 70-200 L IS USM lens. It did and it did it with ease.
