Single layer technology is comprised of a gold layer for long archival life. This feature provides a low initial error rate after recording, important for long archival life, and the same drive read/write compatibility as standard silver only discs. The gold reflective layer, naturally resistant to corrosion, prevents oxygen from coming through the DVD bonding material and corroding the silver reflective layer. Silver oxidation can be a primary factor which limits the lifetime of DVD media.

Good archiving solution

These DVDs are suitable for archiving normal amounts of data with being quite sure you can read it again for many years. And normally you do not need to read that data for centuries - which would be able with M-discs. In Europe it is not that easy to get them still, so I ordered from New York.

Happy To Have Them!!!

As "The Dad", I'm the designated photographer for my family; and therefore record all "Our Memories". Suffering a Hard Drive failure can mean that precious Memories are lost, some times for ever. So I regularly "cut DVDs" of the photos and videos I have captured with my camera, cell phone, wife's cell phone, etc. - that way a dead or corrupted Hard Drive causes less drama in my life! ;)

Long life span

I like the 100 year life span of these DVD's. I really look forward to watching them at my 150th birthday party! I have not used any of these so I really can't review them, however I do want to be entered for the drawing. I can however tell you why I purchased these. The long shelf life is why I purchased these DVD's to use for backing up all our family's home movies. With companies wanting $30 or more to transfer a VHS to DVD we decided that we would come out ahead if we purchased our own VHS-DVD recorder and archive quality DVD's. I will add more after my 150th birthday party to tell you if the longevity claim holds up.

Over years I used this DVD Ultra Life to store my medical echocardiography studies. But now there was (over months) in Germany no chance to get them. B+H was the solution for this problem. The delivery was fast and without problems. Thank You ! Next time again. Christian in Hamburg
