The Impact EX-100A 2-Monolight Kit with Softboxes and Stands was put together by B&H to give photographers the advantage of a core lighting setup that includes two flash heads with solid, dependable, basic features. The kit includes two 100W/s EX-100A monolights with full to 1/8 power adjustment and a 60W modeling light which has a "proportionate" setting to allow you to preview your final image. Each light comes with an 8" grid reflector, 24x24" softbox with speedring, sync cord and an 8' air-cushioned light stand.

5600 k or tungsten?
I didn't need bags because the lights stay in one central location, the studio. I had no plans of traveling with this light kit.

I was just wondering if anyone has replaced the modelling lamp with an LED light bulb? I imagine you could get a lot more light output from an LED bulb, especially a cree bulb. I understand it would have to be the dimmable variety...
Tried it with a run of the mill home depot LED bulb, terrible flickering at all output settings. The LED bulbs were not dimmer compatible, but I think the dimmer electronics are too crude to work well with LED bulbs.

How long is the sync cord? Can you buy a sync cord in longer lengths?
The included sync cable is 15 feet long. You can an extension like the Impact Sync Cord Male PC to Female PC (16') B&H # IMPCMPCF16.

In the list of accessories included with this kit theres a Dedicated EX100A SpeedringCan this speedring be used with softboxes made by other softbox manufacturers?
Unfortunately, the speed ring included in this kit would be limited to use with the included softboxes.
