Reasonable Cost Performance Compromise

Tested it prior to installation, 60dB THD+N, Relatively flat frequency response but it had LF cutoff above 20Hz. It's not Jensen JT-11P transformer performance but it's also at a much lower cost than a pair of Jensen transformers.

It solved the 60hz hum in a finicky class A headphone amp that had a hum no matter the configuration. Now I have pleasant emptiness behind the music. My second Rolls purchase. Affordable well-built products from a US company is always a plus. Fast shipping from B&H.

I had an awful ground loop hum to 2 different mixers and nothing I tried worked, until I found this little guy. Just plug your audio inline with it, and presto - hum eliminated!

Say goodbye to 60hz buzz - works perfectly!

I've always kept studio monitors in my editing bay and before Thunderbolt docks, I never had a problem with 60hz buzz. 3 iterations of Thunderbolt and 3 docks later, I've got all kinds of interference and ground loops, and having made a recent switch in desktop setups, a 60hz buzz with all kinds of tonal electronic whining reared its ugly head. It was so bad I had to eliminate my studio monitors from my desktop, which just isn't right. Toss in the HE18 and voila, it's all gone! For a passive unit, it's well built and even looks nice. Plus, it seems pretty tough so I wouldn't have any qualms about taking it into the field. Totally worth it!

BEWARE WHERE YOU PLACE THIS UNIT!!!!!

I recently purchased 2 of these units to help eliminate ground loop noise within the signal cables going to the amps. After installation the ground noise was worst! Consquestly, it took us a week re-checking all signal cables trying to find a solution. After calling other sound engineers for advice, One engineer asked me if I installed the ROLLS HE18 into the system and I told him YES. Without hesitation, he told me he had the same problem on a job in lower Manhattan and after 3 weeks he found what the problem was. After removing the ROLLS from the rack shelf and letting it hang down without touching anything the HUM finally disappeared. We did this and the hum disappeared! My biggest proplem is WHY does'nt the manufacture state any of this in their installation instructions!! WHY IS THE UNIT NOT INSULATED WITH RUBBER or BARRIER TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING!!! THAT IS WHY A GAVE IT A 1 STAR!!

Works as stated

I have a small sound system for my computer. I wanted to add a television to this system with a small 2 channel mixer. I got a loud grounding hum. I tried many things to get rid of this like making sure all the devices were plugged into the same AC outlet, making sure every unit was grounded correctly, etc. No success. I purchased this unit because of the different inputs and outputs so that it would be versatile for other applications if I wanted to use it for another purpose in the future. It works great. No hum and great audio quality. And it stereo.

question

Can this Rolls HE18 help reduces the hum noise for Audio Technica turntable with MC cartridge & Nakamichi control amp ?
Asked by: Anonymous
I have run into this problem in the past on multiple occasions. Check all wiring and cable connections inside the turntable (requires turntable disassembly in many cases to access internal connections) and clean all of those connections with a quality product for that purpose. This problem is usually caused by galvanization between dissimilar metals used on the mating connectors. Your best bet here is to have gold plating on both mating connector. Check and clean both cable ends as well.

Vendor/installer inserted a device (magna?) to ...

Vendor/installer inserted a device (magna?) to route all components into a graphic equalizer, then out to speakers. That worked, but it introduced a faint flutter into the output. Even when all components, including the tuner/amp are powered down, if the 'magna' has power to it the flutter remains. The Rolls is said to eliminate flutter, not hum. Is that true? Is there a better device to use with the equalizer, designed for flutter as wells as hum? or just flutter?

If the cause of the hum is created by a ground loop, then the Rolls HE18 Buzz Off may help to resolve the problem.

question

can it be used for 50 Hz signals?
Asked by: Anonymous
The BUZZ OFF will block 50 Hz hum and the buzz produced by the line noise harmonics from AC Mains powered audio systems. Use short output cables from the HE15 the destination of the audio signal. This seems to help cut down the common mode noise on the long cable segment. This is a great box to have whenever connecting a laptop pc to a public address system to cut out unwanted noise. It works to eliminate noise that is sometimes present when presenters laptop is connected with video to projector and audio to amplifiers.
