Novoflex Castel-Q Focusing Rack - with Arca-Type Quick Release (Requires Plate) Is this a quick-release plate that attaches the DSLR (Canon 5D Mk III in my case) to the Focusing Rack? Which plate is required? Thanks!
Asked by: Anonymous
You will need an Arca-compatible quick release plate to use this focusing rack, such as the Novoflex QPL-1 Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Q-Base System, 1.7 Long - with 1/4-20 Screw: http://bhpho.to/1iDz6ne

question

Is this focus slider takes wimberley, markins, mefoto or sunwayfoto arca swiss compatible quick release plates? In the image above it appears that the top quick release clamp is too shallow. please answer. I am asking that other make QR arca swiss plates apart from novoflex itself are compatible with this slider?
Asked by: DR.KISHORE KUMAR M.
I find that the plate must slide in from the end. You cannot open the plate-slot wider than the plate; instead, there is a tang that presses inward when turning tightening screw. Again, the plate-slot is only as wide as the plate, so the plate must slide in from an end of the plate-slot. Some plates have tiny bolts at their ends, which are there to prevent the plate from sliding out of the plate-slot. These tiny bolts, however, will also prevent the insertion of the plate from an end of the plate-slot. Therefore you must remove the tiny bolts from at least one end of the plate. Plate-slots on tripods, etc., usually open wider than the plate, so that the plate can be placed directly from above the plate-slot (provided it has been opened wide enough). In this sense, the Novoflex slot is more precise, and secure (as long as you put the tiny plate screws back in the plate after mounting).

question

Will Really Right Stuff L-brackets attach to this?
Asked by: Richard
Sorry, I have no idea if the Really Right Stuff L Bracket will work with the Castel-Q rack. However, I really like the rack. Very steady, solid and easily used.
