Is it normal for these to have a thin ring near (not at) the center visibly burned from the factory? When we burn them, our burned data starts at the very center, burns past this pre-burned ring leaving an almost invisible gap, and continues to the outer edge. I don't know whether this is where the media ID and book type are stored; other Verbatim non-DataLifePlus DVD-Rs also have it, but other DVD+Rs, even Verbatims, don't appear to, nor do CD-Rs. The disc reads back as bit-for-bit identical to the source image, but it just seems odd to have a pre-burned ring in the middle of the data area. Any insights from someone who knows would be appreciated! Thank you.

DVD-R media does have a small amount of pre-written near the ID as part of the DVD-R specifications. CD-R and DVD+R do not have this pre-written data.
