Battery life too short for practical use

The video quality of this camera is fine and I'm a fan of the vertical view that it captures. Installation is pretty easy if you have the right tools. However, the battery has not lasted longer than 2 weeks for me - that's unacceptable. I run the risk of not having a camera or doorbell when I take an extended vacation. I'm also very much not a fan of the fact that it doesn't have continuous recording, *even if you get the wires to keep it always plugged in*.

Warning the doorbell does NOT work below 30 Degrees

If you live in the south this might work, but the device discharges if it is below 30 degrees for a couple of days. This is a known design fault, do your research..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great doorbell camera option for anyone looking to upgrade their doorbell. The quality is great, the image is great and the installation is very straightforward! I wish the battery would last longer, but it gives you enough of a heads up to do it while you're home.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome camera, I already have products that use Google home, so it fit right in. I love being able to see and talk to my customers when I am in the back and the only one here, it keeps prospective new customers from walking away without being able to speak to some one.

I chose the Google Video Doorbell over the Ring because the free offering was better -- Google records 3 hours of video on the device. It was easy to wire it to my existing low voltage doorbell chime so it stays charged. The iPhone app is great and allows designating faces as known family members so their names can be shown in push notifications. Highly recommended.

What's the battery life on this and how long does it take to cahrge?
Asked by: Jerry
The battery for the Google Video Doorbell (Battery, Ash) BH #GONDBBA is rated to last 1.5 to 6 months. Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. When the battery power is low, the doorbell will enter "low power" mode to conserve the battery until until the doorbell is recharged; A full charge is reached in about 5 hours.
