I use this with an AD200Pro remote head which has a built-in cold shoe. So, no need for the 1/4x20 adapter in my case. Then I configure this with the Photek Softlighter 46 modifier. Works great. I like the ease with which I can aim the lighting. Not any negatives except that it's a bit overpriced. 1 star deducted for that.

There's nothing more frustrating that those stupid $15 umbrella brackets that a) don't stay on tightly on the light stand, b) are difficult to adjust when you need to angle the flash, and c) are difficult to see if the flash is even on tightly... meaning that the flash falls off. This is a well built, beautiful piece of equipment that is a must for ANY photographer that needs a coldshoe on a lightstand, ie: off camera flash work. It's 100% always in my bag and it never leaves my lightstand. Love this so so so much. The v2 is a much improved version of the v1 because it can support more weight - like the 42 magmag magbox.

This flash shoe is a personal favorite! I have one on every single light-stand, mini-stand and mono-pod I own. Convenient to adjust the angle of your flash and durable enough to hold some of my heavier flashes. The lock is easy and secure! A definite recommendation!

Adapter doesn't go all the way

I was no happy to find out the adapter doesn't go all the way through and also when you try to screw on the ad200 the threads doesn't align straight when tighten all the way through, so you have your ad200 still wobbly.

One less star because I thought this would be a good improvement and it's pretty much the same as original mag shoe. I bought this one to replace a mag shoe that snapped - be careful with the weight of the mag box and attached speed lights. A slight wind and the original version of the shoe just snapped off. Fortunately, nothing else broke, but I don't think this is a big improvement on the last version. If anything, the one I got seems LESS sturdy - I had to tighten all the bolts down because it was wobbly right out of the box.

I was not happy that I had to shell out $60 for this thing--that is until I took it out into the field and used it. So if you ask me now I will tell you it's worth every penny. Very well thought out and very solidly built. But most of all, it holds your flash rock solid and the pistol grip is super useful!

Can someone please suggest a stronger alternative ...

Can someone please suggest a stronger alternative to this? We have one to use with our 42" MagBox Pro, but it feels very fragile, especially when it's windy. We've been using it for now, but fearing the day it breaks in front of a client.

Description says "For use with speedlights a MagRing is required." But the images show a speedlight mounted directly onto the MAGSHOE without use of MagRing. Unclear if I really need MagRing to just mount a Godox860iii wiith Magsphere or Magbounce onto a light stand?

No. A end-user can us the unit as a stand alone if they plan to use different light shaping tools that are not mag-mods.

What's the measurement on the bottom of the ...

What's the measurement on the bottom of the magshoe? It doesn't mount to my impact lightstand (BH# IMLSPK10)

The Magmod shoe connects to a standard 5/8 stud stand. And it should fit fine on the IMLSPK10. Make sure you unscrew the knob enough as it might be not out enough to slide it onto the stand.

Great question, The MagShoe 2 is designed to work with any standard umbrella shaft. The dimensions of the hole itself is 13mm x 17mm.
