Can the cart still be folded flat with this attached? If not, do the bolts have to be removed to detach the shelf?

No. The shelves has to be attached and removed before and after every deployment.

Is it possible to buy 1/2 shelf now and in the ...

Is it possible to buy 1/2 shelf now and in the future buy another half shelf and put them together to make one full length shelf. Or do I need to make that decision now to buy the full shelf. Is there another accessory that I need to buy to put 2/2 shelves together to make one complete full shelf.

If you wish to use the full shelf, I would recommend purchasing the KRANE Full Shelf Kit for AMG 750 Cart, B&H # KRSKA7505618, for your usage needs. The above KRANE Full Shelf Kit would include extra screws and a center bracket that is not included with the purchase of the KRANE Half-Shelf Kit for AMG 750 Cart, and which cannot be purchased separately.
