Rode NT-USB Mini USB Microphone

Record high-quality podcasts or stream sterling audio with the RODE NT-USB Mini, a USB microphone that punches above its class in terms of sound, reliability, and ease of use. Whether you're recording content on a computer or a tablet, this USB microphone can ensure a professional sound, as its capsule is specifically tuned for the spoken word, and its construction is tailored to provide as little handling noise as possible. Plus, with free RODE Connect software, you can simultaneously use up to four NT-USB Mini mics with a single Mac/Windows computer and unlock special features optimized for podcasting.

The RODE NT-USB Mini will allow you to record audio straight to your computer over USB, foregoing the usual audio interface, mixer, or high-priced recording equipment. It will do so while minimizing noise in the room, thanks to its cardioid polar pattern, which naturally focuses audio spoken directly into the mic while tamping down any sound to the back or sides. Requiring no special drivers to download—and filtering out vocal plosives with an internal windscreen—the mic will enable you to capture a clean recording, one that sounds professional right out of the gate.

Designed for the Spoken Word

The NT-USB Mini's condenser capsule is tuned by RODE to capture both the warmth and the presence of your voice, giving your recordings the heft they need to cut through the fray.

Works with Your Setup

The mic will operate with both Mac and Windows computers as well as tablets, so long as you have the compatible adapter for mobile devices (available separately). No preamp, interface, converters, or mixer are necessary for recording your voice.

Thoughtful Appointments for Everyday Use

A built-in windscreen helps mitigate vocal pops and plosives for a cleaner sound. The included stand is more than a stand—it isolates the NT-USB Mini from structurally borne noises and vibrations. This delivers a cleaner sound. If you want to take the mic off the stand, this is easy, as its magnetically attached. A 5/8 to 3/8" thread adapter ensures you can mount NT-USB Mini on nearly any mic stand.

Cardioid Polar Pattern for the Untreated Room

The microphone makes use of a directional cardioid polar pattern to minimize off-axis sound. This polar pattern naturally tamps down room tone, focusing the audio capture on whatever's in front of the mic. Depending on your particular room, you may still need a little room treatment, or some noise-reduction software, to address issues such as your computer's hum or your air conditioner—but the chances of this are markedly lower with a cardioid polar pattern.

Built-In 3.5mm Headphone Jack and Volume Dial

The mic offers a headphone jack for monitoring. Just plug a pair of headphones into the NT-USB Mini's 3.5mm jack, and you'll be able to listen to your high-quality audio in all its glory. Also, a convenient volume dial helps you raise or lower the headphone volume; you won't have to change the volume on your computer or your recording software to hear audio at your desired level.

High-Quality Audio Capture

The mic records audio at 24-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for how many samples it can record in a second, and providing a high degree of dynamic range. A non-techy translation: this microphone is well suited for picking up the nuances of your voice.

USB Connection Right Out of the Box

An included USB cable means you can get up and running right away. Bus-powering means no batteries or pesky wall-wart adapters are required to run the mic. Class-compliant operation means you don't need to download and install separate software to make the mic "talk" to your computer—all you need to do is plug it in.

The broadcast arm features a standard 5/8"-27 microphone stud mount that is compatible with most shockmounts and microphone clips. Senal SMH-1000 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones

The SMH-1000 Professional Field and Studio Monitor Headphones from Senal feature a classic closed-back, over-the-ear, collapsible design. With features like interchangeable cables, a refined frequency response, wire guides, superior comfort, and durable materials, the SMH-1000 is ideal for studio and field applications.

Equipped with 40mm neodymium drivers at 58-ohm impedance, the SMH-1000 headphones are designed to be loud enough when attached to low powered devices such as mobile phones and MP3 players, yet robust enough to handle studio headphone amps without distortion. The over-ear, closed-back design is intended to help block unwanted outside noise, which is useful in professional field recording and studio monitoring scenarios where isolation is critical.

The headphones are designed with an EQ curve that's been tailored for a slightly enhanced low end that allows field engineers to detect wind noise more effectively and enables studio engineers to monitor bass and sub-bass frequencies. The high-frequency response has been extended to accurately reproduce spatial detail. There is also a pronounced but smooth midrange that reduces ear fatigue over prolonged periods, while maintaining focus on vocal and dialogue intelligibility.

Designed for flexibility as well as great sound, the SMH-1000 makes use of twist-lock detachable cabling. There are two detachable cables included in each box that can be used interchangeably. There is a stretchable 4 to 10' coiled cable that provides better mobility and reach, that also helps prevent snags from pulling the headphones off of your head. This can be useful when navigating through gear-cluttered recording studio environments. There is also a 3' straight cable that is useful when less slack is ideal, such as when using a waist-mounted field recorder or mixer, or when using your mobile device.

The SMH-1000 has been built with convenience, practicality, and comfort in mind. The headphones have a collapsible folding mechanism for compact storage and transport. They also have wire guides to keep the earcup wires from pinching. Furthermore, they are fitted with a padded headband and soft replaceable ear cushions to maximize comfort during extended listening.

An excellent choice for commercial recording, broadcast, home studios, and live and location sound. Also great for home and portable entertainment.
Over-ear, closed-back (circumaural) stereo headphone design to help block unwanted environmental noise. Ideal for use in professional applications such as studio or field recording.

Yes this a great microphone to record vocals, voiceover and even to be used for a podcast. I do recommend connecting your headphones on the bottom of microphone where the headphone output is located it will sound more accurate then connecting your headphones to the computer.

What is the greatest recommended distance from which a person should speak into the microphone? How is the audio quality if the person is speaking up to a foot away from it?
Asked by: Trudy
I’m not an expert but I’ve been using them for almost a year now, I’ll say that you get the best out of this mic when you are speaking very close to them. I would not recommend it as an ambient mic. I use them for podcasting or voice over and y put my mouth very close to them and the sound is outstanding

Can this microphone be directly connected to an iPad?
Asked by: Stacy
The microphone comes with a USB wire. I have a definite recollection that I did connect this microphone to an iPad at one point, but I cannot seem to locate the dongle I would have needed to accomplish that at the moment. You cannot connect it without a dongle that accepts USB to iPad connection.

Is there any xlr adapter I can use to hook up to mixer?
Asked by: Tim
This is a USB microphone, meaning that it is essentially recognized by your computer as a sound card with an attached microphone. There is no mic level output. However, there is a no-latency headphone level output. As such, while it would be a less common way to use this microphone, you could also choose to use a cable such as this one to feed the audio from this microphone to a line level input on a mixer: Hosa Technology XVM-101M Angled Stereo 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR Male Microphone Cable (1') BH #HOSMMRAXM1 https://bhpho.to/2T9p3nf

I have never seen a USB2 to USB-C cable, and neither a [email protected] to lightning cable if one were to want to use this with an iPad Pro. Perhaps if one used a hub, but those are rare as hens teeth with the USB2 on them.

I dont know how you define a "dynamic microphone" but I can tell you this mic requires a little experimental tweaking (depending on how far you want the mic to be to you ect) But after a couple of trial runs it will be the an absolutely wonderful mic with beautiful tone and sound quality!
