COUGAR MX331 Mesh Reviews

Sharp edges, Sloppy construction, Just say no

I bought this case because it was the only one I could find with 2xUsb3 and 2xUsb2 front panel connections. This lets me avoid using hub and makes things cleaner and simpler. But, I really can't recommend this case. There are sharp edges, the construction is sloppy and the case is actually lopsided and doesn't stand evenly on its feet. Luckily it's a simple build so it will work in the end but next time I will go with a premier brand and put up with the extra clutter from a usb hub.

a unique case

It is minimalist, light and has the perfect dimensions. It is testimony that you can design a case in which you can fit just about anything you want, without making it unnecessarily huge. I do not like the heavy bulky cases. This one is very sleek. It has the usb and audio ports, conveniently, in front, as they should be, not on the top of the case! It has a mesh front and a dvd bay. Only comes with one fan, but whatever, at $50, adding 2 more fans of my choice is not a problem at all. I have looked long and hard to find this case. It is truly unique and perfect for me. I like it so much that I'm considering buying an extra 1 or 2 for my next builds, when my other aging pcs will eventually die.

Not for use with ATX Boards with PCIE power on the bottom

No space on the bottom of the case to plug in the PCIE Power plug. inorder to plug in the PCIE on the bottom of the board we needed to cut off the tab on the cable to plug it in. Lacking QC. Rivets were installed through only one piece of metal. not the HD holder on the bottom. required us to drill out the rivet and install a nut and bolt. using the included hardware the right side holes for the standoffs were not threaded. thin metal bends way too easily. Next time I will spend the extra $40 bucks and get a fractal design case. you get what you pay for.

Seems to think it's more expensive than it is

Very nice case, and a great value. Thoughtfully designed and well executed. A few detractions: The instructions weren't great. The knockouts for expansion cards were snap-off, meaning you will need screw-on blanks to ever plug the slot, and they are not supplied. Also, the lead slot was already blank, inexplicably so, because the location of the m.2 drive prevents a card from being added there. So out of the gate you need one blank. Also, the connectors for the front panel did not latch on positively to their pins. I will have to tape the wires to hold them in position. And if there's a dust filter for the power supply, I didn't see it. Perhaps I've missed it. But those are relatively minor flaws, and I won't dock a point. A very nice case.
