Must have for SDI devices and Z Cam

You just plug it in and it works. The best thing is you still retain and HDMI out while adding SDI out. Great for getting video to two separate devices.

Love the locking thread DC ports. I don't have to use the Lemo connector anymore and worry about damaging the pins.

A Welcome Addition

Being able to send an SDI signal out of the Zcam means a step up in quality and reliability. I cringe every time I have to insert or remove an HDMI cable from my camera, hoping I'm not causing any damage to the interface. With this unit I am less worried about accidentally knocking the cable out and really doing some damage. The Zcam probably should have come with an SDI interface but now you can have one at a good price.

Necessary For SDI on Zcam

The HDMI to SDI converter does what it is supposed to do, turn an HDMI signal into SDI. My only complaint is that its up the one port for an NP-F battery or v-mount battery, forcing you to make other inconvenient arrangements for power to the Zcam. I haven't quite figured that out yet, the Zcam E2 has options for powering it but none as elegant as I would like.

Works very well.

I think people who know, know that SDI is a pro connection. I use this flawlessly with my Zacuto Gratical Eye evf. It can also be use in conjunction with the atomos SDI to loop through. I have both. Love them.

How many frames of delay is there to the output of the SDI? I'm interested to see if this camera would work in a live production environment for IMAG.
Asked by: Event
The Z CAM E2 cameras have several frames of latency on the output that would unfortunately also pass to the Z CAM HDMI to SDI Converter.

No. 3G SDI is for HD. We would suggest something like this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1375457-REG/blackmagic_design_convmbhs24k6g_mini_converter_hdmi.html

With this adapter allow 12-Bit ProRes RAW recording over HDMI to a monitor-recorder?
Asked by: Steve
The Z CAM HDMI to SDI Converter is an HDMI to SDI converter, and is intended to take the HDMI output from Z Cams and convert it to an SDI 3-G format. If you want to record 12-Bit ProRes RAW from your Z Cam we recommend using your camera's HDMI output to send a feed to the Atomos Ninja V.
