BH #APMXQU2LLA will only work when the iPad is connected via the magnetic smart connector which is on the back of the iPad Pro 3rd/4th gen.

The difference between this Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 12.9" (3rd/4th/5th Gen, US English, Black) and the previous version is this version will be compatible with the 2021 12.9 iPad Pro. The 2021 iPad is slightly thicker because of the Liquid Retina XDR display.

Can I use this with a case, or do I have to remove it for the keyboard to attach to the iPad?
It IS a case, you can't have a case on it. It's a pretty firm magnetic attachment but not full coverage around the edges, in fact no coverage around the edges. I love it, the single cable charging and adjustable angle are amazing... but it's quite heavy.
