The Heat Company Durable Liner PRO Gloves Reviews

NOT Durable

I have read other people complaining about the durability of other liner gloves from the heat company (like the touch pad material tearing, the silicon patterns wearing off quickly, etc.). I was contemplating whether to get the durable liner pro or the wind liner pro and ended up going with the more expensive durable liner pro, which the heat company promotes as the most durable glove they have, assuming I will not have durability issues. I have ordered this liner with the shell mitten to use as my winter gloves for photography. I am using a Gitzo tripod which has a rotating lock mechanism for the tripod legs and after using the tripod with the durable liner pro gloves for a handful of times I am surprised to see quite significant leather damage around the stitch between the thumb and the palm of the hand. At this point I am just hoping that the glove will hold and will not develop a hole in that area in the future. Another minor issue but a bit annoying (like other people reported in online reviews) is the touchpad surface on the fingers not sitting straight, it constantly twists around the finger. Bottom line - this is NOT a durable glove and I would NOT recommend it for photography use. It is probably ok to use this liner under the shell for warmth purposes only, assuming you will never use it as a stand alone glove.

Great gloves

I have a pair of the cloth version and found that they flexed too much when using a zoom lens, so I purchased these to go with my outer shell gloves. They are working great. I did a shoot today at seven degrees with only these gloves on and my hands and fingers were fine. I used two hand warmers in each glove: one in the palm area and the other one in the pouch provided on the back of the hand. I recommend these gloves to anyone who will be shooting in cold weather.

My brother-in-law is wowed by his new Heat Company Durable Liner PRO Gloves that he received as a Christmas Gift. Since snow has fallen where he lives, he has been quite pleased with the comfort and dexterity that these gloves provide, when he operates his camera while birdwatching. As he is sometimes hard to buy for, the gloves just fit the bill! -S L Davis in Texas-

Poor construction

Glove finger lengths are inconsistent and the thumb on the right hand is stitched in such a way that the touch screen compatible portion faces the side of my thumb. Also, while they are warm enough, they don’t seem to deliver on the promise of maintaining use of the fingers.

Warm, but not heavy or restrictive; great for photography

A tad expensive, but when you're shooting in the field you don't want cold hands as the lowest common denominator. And if you can go for a long winter photo outing in single digit temps and have no issues with cold hands, they're worth it. I live in the northeast; do a lot of camera pack hiking. That's 2-3 bodies with lenses so I don't have to change lenses in the field. If you stretch sunrise into a planned hike, you're going to be outdoors for a while. In the winter here, single digit temps are common. You know how it is, setting up early for sunrise; if your hands get cold, and you can't go back to your car to warm up. These gloves are great, even without hand warmers. Now I won't be shoveling snow in them, but these work for me, and I don't have to carry my usual thin gloves for shooting, then switch to warm mitts to bang my hands together until they warm up again. They are tactile enough for most settings on my Canon 5Dsr, 5D4 and 5D3 with separate lenses. Fine product; seem built well enough to last many seasons. (Hey, handy clips so I might not lose one.) These gloves are perfect in winter conditions. I have used them at -15 Celsius and along with the heat pack, it makes taking photos in cold temperature a true pleasure! The fit is also true to size. Recommend!

Warm and comfortable, very pleased with this purchase!

Well made, stylish, but a little thin.

Well made and stylish. Doesn't block dexterity. But a little too thin to be effective in real cold. Granted they're made to be a liner, but I wish they were a little more protective on their own.

I have these, but as with any leather glove, would probably not wash them, and certainly not in a washing machine. The leather is high quality. I did use the included leather balm before first wearing them.

At the bottom of each glove's page in its description, there are instructions and measurements for the size you need based on the circumference of your hand.
