Measuring approximately 4' in length and made of lightweight ripstop nylon, the 2-way Fabric Barndoors and Grid for PavoTube 30C from Nanlite attach to the LED tube and allow you to narrow and shape the wide 180-degree beam spread of the tube to as narrow as 5 degrees to light specific areas of the subject. Nanlite BD-PT30C+EC Reviews
A must have
Built PRO, Great Price
Fabric Barn Doors Work Well
I was looking for inexpensive barn doors and grid for tube lights. I use Quasar Science tubes, and these worked with the 4ft versions just fine. After getting these barn doors, I added a set of PavoTube 30c tubes to the kit. I have also purchased more barn doors for more lights. The clamp system works well and the barn doors keep the lights off surfaces the lights should not be on!
Nice cut on the tubes
I got exactly what I expected from the Nanlight company for their tubes. Its a budget piece of gear and so it is built as such. BUT with that said, it does a nice cut on the light of the tubes as it should. It does take a moment to set it up, it isn't a hard material, very flimsy. The grid is nice to control any spill of the light once you get it on. But yea, once you have this one, consider keeping it on or deal with building it up each time. No easy snaps, all velcro and you have to pull on the material to make it tight or it will start to flop on itself.
Good Value
Bought this as a lower cost alternative to the TRP SnapGrid for my Quasar Science 4' Crossfade tubes. Although just a bit short, it works fine for my needs...especially at a $120 savings.
Probably just “good enough” but not the best option for the Quasar Crossfades
As far as build quality these are all fabric and no hard materials (outside of the plastic clips that clamp them to the bulb. They rely on strength of the velcro to create tension when fully stretched out to keep the barndoors open or straight which could become problematic for what I’m about to tell you next... They are about two inches too short for the Quasars. I think it’s because the quasars have more bulb than the Nanlite brand which has larger/longer end caps (creating less bulb real estate). This shortness means that you can make them work but cannot properly install them. You cannot fold over the velcro as you are supposed to on the ends. Folding over the vector is what fortifies the velcro tension needed to keep the barn doors open since they have no solid materials. These are about 1/2 the price of the next best option so I’m debating on returning and forking over the money for barndoors/ grids that actually fit and cover the full length of the Quasar Crossfades. I have the 2’ version coming in this week. If those work for the 2nd Quasar Rainbows I may keep them.
Poor design
Work but covers settings screen when attached
Essential
These are great for the PavoTube. You really need them to shape the light. Well built.
Just what I needed
Well strong material. Perfect solution when I use over head light
