Yes, the 3Dconnexion CadMouse Pro Wireless Left-Handed Mouse BH #3DX700079 can be used with a magic mouse simultaneously but you will only have one cursor so you don't get a second cursor for the second mouse.

Does the wheel have detents or is scrolling completely smooth and continuous?
Per the manufacturer's website, "Smart Mouse Wheel 2: Smooth scrolling and Tick-to-Tick zooming in CAD applications" is the only description used for the wheel.

Should I get a 3-D connection CAD mouse Pro or the space mouse first?
It would honestly come down to a personal decision and what you are looking to improve but the Space Mouse seems to be more useful based on the user feedback I have received from each product from users using CAD software.
