This a great litter tester to do a quick check and find a line. It does tend to have an issue seating in some snake heads so you don't get a good test and will need to double check.

Does exactly what is advertised. Had a problem with a line running from the stage to the audio booth. Had tried switching out components and cables to no avail. When I received the SoundTools XLR Sniffer/Sender Remote End Cable Tester, could trace down the problem in a matter of minutes. HIGHLY recommend this unit for install applications. Doyle

I am still waiting on a second return authorization. The first shipment was missing one of the two parts. The replacement does not work; the lights briefly light when the two pieces are firmly plugged together, but do not stay lit. The lights do NOT light at all when plugged into known-good cables. Looks like QC problems in the manufacturing.

This Sniffer/Sender is great for tracing and checking runs from floor boxes to FOH. Too many uses to mention. Thank you Dave Rat and B&H.

Essential cable testing and tracking tool

We used the sniffer/sender to check our stage distribution cables after a lightning strike. It also was used to verify cable-to-stage box assignments and to identify orphan cables left under the stage following last year's remodeling. We couldn't have done it as fast or as easily without this handy device!

There's no better way to test installed XLR cable or analog snakes. The LED lights show a constant reading of continuity. If there are any faults, the LED codes instantly determine what needs correction. If there's any intermittency, the LEDs catch that, too, with a flickering status. The phantom power testing with a snake is a cool option, too.

I've successfully used it on a 60-ft run of three XLR cords connected together. I don't have anything longer since we pulled out the 150-ft snake and went digital.
