Take your formatted SATA SSD out of a PC bay and use it like a giant thumb drive. How convenient? If you have a use case for using an SSD with multiple devices, this is a simple way to make data transfers and archiving easy.

Using this in the field with a Mac Book Pro to transfer footage from recorder SSD's to my edit drives. Really fast and reliable.

It's painfully simple. And works every time. Just wrapped a feature shooting ProRes RAW and used this every day to offload from Ninja - never unmounted itself or any other negatives...

Be advised that this may not work with your 3.5 HDD

I purchased both this model (SATA III to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C) and the SATA III to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A model. They seem to function identically, other than having the obvious port difference. Connecting this to a 2.5 Samsung 870 QVO drive, this cable works as expected. Performance of this drive reaches near the theoretically max of the protocol/cable. Connecting via 3.5 WD 8TB HDD, though, does not work. I would guess that there is too much of a power draw needed from the drive, but I have not dug deeply into this.

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB-C connector on the Pearstone USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C to 2.5" SATA III Adapter Cable (19") has a max transfer rate of 5 Gb/s, which is enough for the typical 500–560 MB/s max read and write speeds you'd get from SATA III SSDs connected with this cable.
