Novoflex EOSR/CAN Reviews

FD lens iris blades will open 10% of the time...

Bought it to use FD lenses on my komodo. The way FD lenses are made, the metal pin inside the adapter is supposed to pull the metal lever on the lens to release the Iris blades. In fact, the system doesn't work really well for me. sometimes, I need to lock and unlock the lens around 8-10 times before I have the control on the iris. This means, 90% of the time, I don't have the iris control and the lens is stuck wide open. My lenses are all mint and bought them from different sources (20f2.8,28f2,35f2,50f1.2,85f1.2)...it's the same process for every lens.

Worth the Price

Obviously expensive relative to others, but unlike those adapters it's all one solid piece (i.e. no loose screws) and holds a 400MM FD lens to my Canon mirrorless very well. Worth the price if you're in the RF mount for the long-term and want to play around FD lenses.

‘Buy It Once’ type of purchase

I wanted top quality product considering I use so many Canon FD lenses on my modern Canon full frame. My Novoflex adapter looks great and works flawlessly. This product is certainly expensive - but considering that it is made in Germany and is the only one I will ever need - I am able to be super happy about it every single time I change a lens. I do not regret buying it and would do it all over again.

A well engineered lens adapter

Compared to the existing FD lens to EOS camera adapters (with the optical element/lens for infinity focus) this German made lens mount feels solid and gives a snug fit.  FD lens focus is not a problem depending on the condition of ones FD lenses and the images are reasonably sharp. Downside is the relative expense of this unit, but you get what you pay for!

Perfect

Seats the lens perfectly and attaches like Canon-made RF. Precision machining. Yes, it's comparatively expensive, but engineered and manufactured without compromise, made in Germany. With its nice finish, when the lens is affixed the pair appears as if a single item. Only a photographer would notice that it's an adapted lens. I do wish it came with caps, but instead comes in a dust-sealed plastic box with a U-channel where the lid mates, and with padding in the bottom.

Well built adapter

I started with the Metabones, but the tolerances on the RF side were just a little too sloppy for me. The Novoflex fits great, and feels like an actual canon RF lens being put on or removed. Will buy a second for my other FD lens.
