The third generation of the 4401 Fiber Optic Adapter, Ikelite's Fiber-Optic Converter does everything that the previous models did, but features a hard anodized aluminum plug connection which reduces weight without sacrificing durability. It is recommended for use with any Ikelite strobe produced September 2018 or later with a hard anodized aluminum bulkhead.
The 4401.3 continues to be sensitive enough to work with internal electrical-to-optical LED flash triggers. These triggers are found in Sea & Sea and Nauticam housings, among others. The converter adapts the electrical bulkhead of any Ikelite DS strobe into a fiber-optic port.
Updated electronics make this converter capable of accurately reading the LED signals for fast and reliable triggering. Like the original Fiber Optic Adapter, it is also compatible with any system where the camera's built-in flash can be detected by a fiber-optic cable. The converter automatically configures itself for compatibility with both pre-flash and non pre-flash camera modes, so there's no setting of small switches or confusion over number of pre-flashes. Simply turn on your strobe and take one picture to configure.
This device is a non-TTL, manual exposure unit capable of supporting a single strobe. It works with Ikelite's DS50, DS51, DS125, DS160, and DS161 strobes. The converter features a depth rating of 295'.
