COAST HX4 Overview

Clip it on your jacket. Stick it on your fuse panel door. Clip it to the brim of your hat. Stick it on your telescope tripod. Clip, stick, or just hold the COAST HX4 Dual-Color Utility Beam LED Clip Light and get to work.

Once you have the light where you want it, rotate the head up to 180° and precisely place the beam exactly where you need it. This versatile light is outfitted with a generous output of 80 white-light lumens configured with their utility beam for performing work at close range without causing glare or being excessively bright. The utility beam is defined by a large center of bright focused light to clearly show your work or reading area, with a limited and diffused spill. A secondary red LED is ideal for use at night to light your way without affecting night-adjusted vision—it will be especially useful to astronomers for finding eyepieces or filters, or for campers who need to get into gear without waking tentmates.

It runs on two included AAA batteries and is controlled with a simple on/off push button on the front. The housing is sealed to an IPX4 rating to be weatherproof against rain and snow, so you can continue to work even if the weather makes you want to quit. Compact, lightweight, and versatile: the HX4 Dual-Color Utility Beam light will be a welcome addition to your everyday carry kit or toolbox.

This light is very small and fits easily in your pocket. Also has clip which can be helpful in many situations. It's the best pocket light I've ever owned.

I would recommend this neat little light!

I have enjoyed my Utiltiy Beam LED Clip light. It works great! I just clip it on and it is ready to go. I find it is comes in very handy, hands free, easy to turn on and off and to switch from white to red light.

This physically small LED light is big on (intense white) light. It includes a red light also, which is great for using while observing and during astrophotography. It works well and the battery last a long time. That's about all you could ask of a small light. It does NOT have a strobe function - thankfully! It's highly portable, it has two colors - white and red. It has a very handy clip, coupled with a rotating head! It is well made, not cheap feeling. The switch has two conditions -1st click: white, 2nd click: red. If I were asked about any improvement suggestions it would be to changed the order of which light shines first. In other words, when you push the on button the white light shines, if you push twice in succession it goes white then red. Unless you cover It, It ruins your night vision for about 10 mins with the bright white, plus it may ruin other's night vision and/or astrophoto. Since they know you wanted it because it has red and white, then logically they must know WHY you wanted red. So they should know to change the order. Other than that it really does work well. B&H included it in an eyepiece order and I've used it every time I go out to observe the sky, ...thanks B&H!

Received this light free with purchase of Nikon 1000i range finder (figure I could use for hunting and golf). I've only had it a short while, and have only had occasion to use it once to help with install of new water heater. Clip it on my hat, adjusted location of beam, and soldered a fitting in a dark basement cubby area. Worked great! Having plenty of light really helped.

I didn't know I needed this light untill B&H sent me one. Clip on to any clothing in any area and leave your hand free.

Great idea for hands free lighting

Easy to use, slip it on your belt and push the switch once for white light and again for red light. Light beam can be tilted up and down by turning the knob on the left or right side. One of the better astronomy lights in my arsenal!

Is the housing aluminum or plastic? Overview says plastic, spec field says aluminum.

Uuummm.. I think it’s plastic. But either way I love this light. It was included free with a purchase but in retrospect I’d buy it for regular price. It’s very bright and compact. The clip is handy too. I’ve clipped it to the brim of my hat and used it as a headlight when running wires in an attic. Great compact work light.
