Logitech G G X56 H.O.T.A.S. Reviews

Great quality. Only time will tell.

The quality of this HOTAS is fantastic. It's the same thing as the X-55 really. Less than ~3% drift on the stick easy to calibrate away. Within expected tolerance. No ghosting or drifting on the throttle. The X-55 was plagued with inadequate wiring that firmed up and broke away though. Logitech's buyout and rebuild of this product hopefully included the wiring. Only time will tell to be honest. But off-the-bat, its great.

Poorly constructed. Wide and inconsistent dead-zones.

This thing is falling apart- but it shipped intact. The whole thing is plastic, even the metal switches, and every axis has a bit too much of a dead-zone in the middle to pilot with any real precision. Thankfully, I know how to solder, so I'll be able to fix up the wires that are getting crimped in the throttle. The layout would be amazing if it weren't garbage.

Everything as expected!

I received the package a day earlier than promised and plugged them into the computer. MS Flight Sim detected them and filled in some basic functions, but I had to configure a few (afterburner was one). I have something like 15 hours on them so far and everything is working as expected. Construction seems good.

If I could give 0 stars

If I could give 0 stars I would. I've had this controller for less than a month and it ghosts when playing games (especially DCS) The instructions in the manual aren't the same as the suggestions from Logitech when you contact support about your brand new $250 controller ghosting and not working properly and the instructions from Logitech do NOTHING to solve the issues. I want my money back. This controller is also NOT plug n play. It requires drivers as well as setup. Oh! The controller also feels really cheap in the hand. Feels like cheap plastic. I'm not a happy camper. It even ghosted during my stream this afternoon and SHUT DOWN MY PLANE. MID FLIGHT. I managed to not die but only because I'm not new to flying. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one. Save an extra $200 and get a not-Logitech brand controller. They've known about these issues for years (at least 4 years) and have done NOTHING to fix them.

lots of buttons, terrible construction

On the surface this thing seems really cool, lots of buttons, split throttle, comfortable to use but unfortunately the build quality is terrible for the price and the centering on the stick is hot garbage. The first one that I got I had to send back after a month when all of the buttons on the stick died. Additionally, the lower rotary on the throttle grip wouldn't move past the half way point, I didn't realize that was the case until I got the second one. I've been using this one for the past 3 months or so so by now it is well out of warranty and the x axis on the joystick just died. Finally even with these longevity issues aside, The centering on the stick is one of the worst I've ever felt. Between the loose tolerances and already poor design about the center 5 degrees of travel in any direction are pure mush, this makes it impossible to trim out aircraft precisely because if you bump the stick at all it won't move back to where you trimmed it to. Its honestly really sad because the throttle is actually really good and having that thing paired up with ANY OTHER JOYSTICK would be a really killer setup but unfortunately Logitech won't sell them separately. Such a shame, steer clear.

Just What I've Been looking for

While this is my first time playing games like MSFS, I was recommended the X56, I must say I was impressed by the quality of the product, it had no scratches or broken plastic or any input lag. the throttle is a bit stiff but other than that the rest of it runs smooth

Satisfied as my first HOTAS with small issues

Two weeks with X56 flying DCS, it works great. Stick have small gaps near center, common problem with spring sticks and it's OK. Set a tiny dead zone can work around the problem. Throttle is little too tight even turn the dial to the most loosen position. It's a personal preference, should be fine with most people. The bottom stand is huge and thick. I saw YouTube teardown videos most of space inside is empty. A bit hard to use on table.

How long are you cables? Does this device have problems when using USB extension cables? Are the cables detachable? If the cables are detachable, what is the "device side connection"?
Asked by: Frank
Hello, the cables are 2m (6.6 ft) and are built into the joystick and throttle bodies, so they are not detachable. You should be fine with a USB extension, as it only uses USB 2.0. If you are using a USB hub, it needs to be a powered hub.
