Does the audio input insert audio into the hdmi loop through, or just into the usb recording stream?
A loop through usually only sends out the same input that was brought in. More than like the 3.5mm audio input would only be for the capture devices stream itself.

I have a Nikon D300, D3400 and a D7100 which camera can I use for live streaming with this Magewell?
The D3400 and D7100 will have the needed clean HDMI output to work with this Magewell capture device. However the D300 is a bit of an older model that may not have the clean HDMI output needed.

And is the audio PCM 48K 16 bit?? don't want AAC......
This capture device does not effect recording settings. You would adjust these settings in the software you are using to record. I recommend OBS.
