Ikelite DL Overview

Capture shots of coral reefs, parrot fish, and humpback whales with various wide-angle and zoom lenses in Ikelite's DL 8" Dome Port, which has a depth rating of 200'. It accommodates many different lenses, including Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Tokina, and Rokinon models ranging from 8 to 105mm in focal length. The port is designed to be mounted onto Ikelite DSLR and mirrorless camera housings that have the Dry Lock mount. Additionally, it can be combined with DL extensions to allow for the use of long lenses. For complete compatibility details, see the port chart.

The clear dome magnifies images to a lesser degree than a flat port does, and corrects for the underwater distortion that makes things appear 25% larger and closer--thus helping to restore a wide angle of view. Built for durability, the port is made in the USA from acrylic and acetyl plastic. Protruding edges on the top and bottom act as a built-in shade, shielding the front element from excess light to prevent glare and lens flare.

Pictures come out tack sharp and you get great looking split images from this dome. I would like to see in the near future a cap/cover for the port when storing it.

Great port

This is a great port. Despite being acrylic, this thing is so clear and sharp, I was surprised when I reviewed my images. I use this with a 15mm and I do see some of the hood in shots. Not a major concern but keep that in mind with this port. One odd thing is that, at least the unit I received, the supplied hex key does not fit the locking bolts. I've tried many hex key sets and nothing quite matches.

would buy again

Great piece of equipment--be careful with scratching

does the job I bought it for! I love the carry case if comes with although I do recommend putting something else inbetween the neoprene and the element to prevent scratching. Its super hard to avoid sand in the ocean, but do your best to make sure you keep it clean and free. minor scratches don't show up in images as water will fill in the gaps, but they can cause aberrations when shooting half-in half-out shots.

Nice lens and set up

Good wide angle of view works well. Of course it uses various extension pieces so that I can fit both my regular zoom wide angle and a figheye lens without having to buy new domes. Beware it is quite large so packing was a bit of an issue.
