Better than expected

I went back and forth on this seat and the GTLite, reading reviews on both from every site and ultimately went with the Playseat and not disappointed so far. I chose this one because it is more compact than the GTLite, and slightly more affordable ($190 vs $230). Using it with a Logitech G923. Assembly was very easy, and it took about 20 mins of me getting in and out of the seat, adjusting the slack in the straps and repositioning the wheel plate to get the chair dialed into my comfort level. I've done several F1 race weekends (60-90 minute sessions) and comfort hasn't been an issue so far. The steering wheel mount has a bit of flex, but I was fully expecting that from watching/reading reviews so I have no issues with that. A huge plus for this seat, is that I can keep the pedals and wheel mounted to the chair, fold it up, and store it in the closet so it is out of sight when not in use. Overall, I'm very pleased with this chair. It's a great compliment to my sim experience and would highly recommend this for anyone looking for an entry-level seat, and/or for anyone tight on space. Happy racing!

Great seat, bought after returning the GT Lite

When researching foldable racing cockpits, I was torn between this Playseat Challenge and the Next Level Racing GT Lite. On paper, the GT Lite is the better seat because it's more adjustable and comes with a shifter mount, and is a bit cheaper too. Reviews also seemed positive. My main concern was how compact it'd fold up, but I figured I'd try it out first since if I liked it, it should meet my needs out of the box. I knew immediately when I received it that it wasn't for me. I'm thin and of average male height, and it felt way bigger than it needed to be. Worse, although it does have a technically more robust adjustment mechanism than the Playseat Challenge, this comes at the expense of making it quite tedious to fold/unfold. And due to its size, it takes up a lot of space when folded (which I knew going in, but it was even bigger than I expected). Finally, the included shifter mount is located too high/forward for me to even reach it easily (at least, with the Fanatec shifter I plan to buy), let alone find it natural/comfortable. So I returned it the next day and ordered the Playseat Challenge. My experience with the Challenge has been the opposite. It fits me well and is more comfortable to sit in, sets up easily and although the adjustments are mostly velcro strap-based which isn't as robust as the GT Lite's mechanism, the velcro is strong and large and shows no signs of slippage or failing anytime soon. The benefit of this approach is that folding/unfolding the rig is super easy and requires no changes to the adjustments. And because the rig is smaller, it folds up smaller. I also find the seat itself more comfortable and contoured. There's even some basic lumbar support in the form of a (you guessed it) velcro strap behind the seat that can be tightened. I still find a need to add a pillow for long sessions to improve this, but it's nice that there's something. It does not come with a shifter mount, but since I found the GT Lite's to be unusable, this isn't really a negative. Plus, since the Challenge has been around forever, there are plenty of DIY approaches to mounting various shifters, so considering I would've needed a DIY solution either way and would have a harder time finding ideas for the newer GT Lite, I actually consider the shifter situation to be a bit better with the Challenge, for me at least. My biggest complaint is that the pedal mount doesn't have a hard mount plate like the GT Lite and instead depends on another velcro strap. This works and the pedals are secure enough, but I do find my heels sometimes get caught on the velcro. This could be improved with a DIY scheme I'm sure, and the velcro placement can be moved around to minimize the heel issue, but I do feel this is a weakness. I was also worried about using the Challenge at a desk-mounted monitor. I have a 40 4k TV as my PC monitor and was worried it'd be too high for the Challenge, which sits a few inches lower than the GT Lite. Although it isn't ideal, it's really not bad at all and ensures the steering wheel doesn't obscure the screen. I also plan to dabble in some VR racing, which of course won't have this problem. In conclusion, I'm really happy with my purchase and would say that unless you're a large and/or tall person, the Playseat Challenge is the foldable cockpit to buy.

Confortable and portable

The chair is great for a small room. Quite comfortable and sturdy if you have it on a rug--slides a little on wood floor. Folds fairly quickly and easily for storage. I find it a bit squeaky when racing and wish it had a way to tilt the pedals and adjust the distance of the wheel without having to make it lean more. Otherwise very happy with it.

Like others have said, I thought this was going to be just my initial leap into a driving sim rig, but I'm so happy with the Challenge, I don't really see the point in moving up to a more sophisticated rig. Assembly was really easy. It comes along with an instruction booklet with pretty clear illustrations of how to put it together. It took maybe 20 minutes to do. Collapsing it to stow away is super easy and takes just a minute or so and setting it back up again even less. I'm 5'11 and 205 and I fit fine in it. It doesn't have much padding, but for my 1-2 hour sessions, it's pretty comfortable. I was concerned before ordering about how easily I could get into it with the position of the steering wheel, but it swings away to the left and so it's pretty easy to get in and out. That feature may be the only weakness of the rig. There's just a little bit of play where the tubing slides in and you get some flex at the wheel. It doesn't affect gameplay but maybe long term might cause problems. I thought there would be some compromises given the price point and collapsible construction, but it really has proven to be strong and stable. I thought eventually I would like to upgrade to a seat with shifter and monitor attachments, but it now doesn't seem worth the money given all you get with this seat.

I was worried about the lawn chair design. But it's work well if you need the whole thing foldable for storage. It's comfortable and the ergonomics are good for driving
