Watson LP-E17 Compact Charger Reviews

Compatible in Many Ways

I already own a Watson two-battery unit with removable adapter plates -- plates that also fit this compact adapter. As long as the battery is the same voltage as the LP-E17, adapter plates let me charge more than one type of battery with the same charging unit. Adapter plates can be bought for ~$2 each -- so there is no need to buy a variety of single-type units (as long as the voltages are the same). In fact, this very moment, I am using my 'LP-E17 Battery Charger' to charge an LP-E6 battery using a snugly snapped-in-place adapter plate. Best of all, the unit can by powered with AC (110VAC US or 220VAC with an included Euro adapter plug) -- OR -- 12VDC with its supplied car-outlet jack. In fact, I can imagine wearing a flexible 12-volt solar panel over a backpack and keeping batteries charged while hiking way off-grid. Great deal. Great Brand. Can't go wrong.

A good alternative...

Will this be able to be connected to a car USB as a power source to charge the batteries?
Asked by: Amber
The Watson charger won't do that. The USB port is only out, it is not in.
