This B&H Kit consists of the MIOPS Camera Trigger the Mobile Dongle for Apple iOS and Android, and a shutter release cable for Nikon 10-Pin cameras with a USB connector. It is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, and laser, Timelapse and HDR modes enable additional creative output, and an external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smart phone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

You may also extend the range of your triggering system by taking the MIOPS remote off camera with the included Mobile Dongle for iOS and Android. By connecting your smartphone directly to your camera, you can now take the MIOPS remote a distance away and then wirelessly trigger the camera through the phone. The remote will send a signal over Bluetooth to tell the phone to set off the camera and/or flash unit.

This kit is designed to work with the following Nikon 10-Pin cameras: D1, D1H, D1X, D2, D200, D2H, D2Hs, D2X, D2Xs, D3, D300, D300s, D3s, D3x, D4, D4s, D700, D800, D800e, and D810

Miops Camera Trigger

The MIOPS Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, timelapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output. An external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

Lightning Mode
A built-in light sensor detects changes in light and triggers your camera's shutter in just a few nanoseconds. You can capture only bright lightning strikes, or the smallest strikes, simply by adjusting the sensitivity. This mode can also be used to capture fireworks, or other events where you need to capture images based on changes in light.
Laser Mode
The MIOPS has a built-in sensor to detect when a laser beam is broken, thereby triggering your camera's shutter. This is useful for detecting subjects such as water drops, animals, or intruders when conducting surveillance.
Sound Mode
MIOPS's built-in microphone can detect sound, triggering your camera or flash to capture things like breaking glass, or a popping balloon. You can adjust the delay of the trigger as well as the sensitivity of amount of sound needed to trigger the shutter.
Timelapse Mode
This mode lets you specify the interval time anywhere between one second and one hour, as well as how many photos to take. The LCD screen will turn off to save energy, allowing you to take a timelapse photo for days, or even months if you use an external power source.
HDR Mode
Even if your camera doesn't have a bracketing feature, MIOPS allows you to set a center exposure, as well as the over and under exposures needed in order to make an HDR image.
External Port
A port on the MIOPS can accept any external trigger that has an output signal between 0V and 3V, such as a temperature, pressure, or humidity sensor.
Combining Sensors
You can combine sensors with MIOPS's Scenario feature by creating a custom scenarios with up to five different steps. For example, you can set the MIOPS to start taking timelapse photos only after it detects lightning.
Triggering Your Camera and Flash
MIOPS has two dedicated outputs, one for a flash, and another for a camera. They are electrically isolated from each other, reducing risk of a short circuit. The MIOPS trigger can be used with multiple cameras (not simultaneously) by simply changing the camera connection cable.
Mini-USB Port
The mini-USB port allows you to charge your Li-ion battery, as well as update the MIOPS's firmware.
Compatibility
MIOPS can be used with any cameras which have a remote shutter trigger port or an IR port, and any and flash units with a PC sync jack.

Camera Trigger with Mobile Dongle Kit for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras Reviews

Malfunctioning

At first this was a great remote trigger. It just recently started malfunctioning. I had it in remote mode and it was taking photos on its own without me doing anything. I also couldn't utilize my playback or menu on my D850. Once I removed this remote, my camera works fine. Tried for days to get ahold of support at Miops to no avail. I was considering purchasing their new miops flex until now. Not worth the money for only lasting six months.

Hummingbirds

It's very likely I'll expand the use of this neat device, since it can assist with so many image-making experiences, but the immediate need was to record the antics of hummingbirds at our new feeder. Product arrived promptly as promised. Battery was fully charged, firmware update took less than a minute. Used Quick Start Guide & was rolling in just a few minutes. Miops Cable Release function on my phone. ISO 3200, 1/6400 sec, 3fps were the best settings on that day in that light. (Nikon D300S in Shutter mode (manual focus), High ISO NR Normal and WB=A.) Nikkor 16-85mm lens. No flash, available light only. Sat with phone/shutter release inside our patio door 10' away from the camera, 15' from feeder. Moving camera closer to feeder appears to distract the birds due to the noise of the 3fps, but using 1fps won't offer as many raw shots for post. These two shots are from first batch. I expect to get better.

I am giving this a four star because I have not yet used all of the features. But if it continues to perform as well as it has so far it's a true five star. The sound trigger and laser trigger work perfect!!

The need for speed

For high speed photography it works great really sensitive Not much bad to say maybe a little light weight for the price but it seems to work well with my studio strobes and speed lights when I use them! Pretty simple interface too!

Does not work as expected.

I bought this item for the purpose of controlling my long exposures ( 1 minute), and for better calibration of HDR effects. The timer worked perfectly with a short learning curve, and I was able to use the Android app which has exposure calculators in it to get some decent long exposures. The HDR function is a mess, and support is mostly clueless about how it should work. When you set it up, the settings on the device never change when you change them in the app, so you don't know what is actually going to happen. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to do a proper HDR sequence. Support had me try several settings that are in the app, but NOT on the device; but nothing worked. A sequence of 3 shots which normally would be Proper exposure, and one EV over and under, turned out to be three of the same exposure values. After three weeks of this I gave up and returned it.

Miops trigger is the best trigger I have owned. I have not had any luck with most of the cheaper triggers. This trigger is a game changer for sure!

Asked by: David
No, the Miops Camera Trigger with Mobile Dongle Kit for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras would not be compatible for use with the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera. Instead, the Miops Camera Trigger with Mobile Dongle Kit for Nikon MC-DC2 Cameras, B&H # MIMIOPSMDN3, would be the correct kit with the correct cable for use with the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera.

question

Can the Miops be used to trigger the movie mode on and off on my Niko D810?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, I cannot state with any certainty. The Miops Camera Trigger is designed for still photography usage, not for video recording needs. The instruction manual for the Miops Camera Trigger states that the camera must be in manual focus mode, otherwise, the MIOPS Smart Camera Trigger will not be able to trigger the camera. Under Custom Setting g4: Assign Shutter Button in the Nikon D810 Instruction Manual, it states you may assign the shutter button to record movies. However, it states to press the shutter-release button halfway to start Movie Live View, then press the shutter button halfway to focus and press all the way to start or end recording. As the MIOPS does not support half-shutter presses, I cannot confirm that this mode would start video recording, as this was not the intent of the remote release. The best I can state would be to try it on your camera when the g4 Custom Setting is set to Record Movies and see if it works for your needs. If not, I would simply recommend purchasing a standard wireless remote trigger that would be compatible for this usage.
