Doesn't work with Windows 7

No drivers provided for Windows 7. Cable too short.

Must have for any computer lacking an Ethernet port.

I use this with my Surface Pro 4 when I'm undocked, but need an Ethernet connection. It works great. I chose it over the Microsoft adapter because of the combination of Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3 ports, so I can use both at the same time. After reading the previous review, I tested it out with my HP Lightscribe DVD Multi Recorder. Even without the auxiliary USB power it worked like a charm. I even plugged in two cellphones to charge up while using the DVD drive with no power issues. My only gripe is the cable length. It's a bit short so the USB hub with whatever's plugged in to it, just dangles from the side of the Surface. An extra 3-4 inches would let it rest on the table, but, I've worked around that issue with a USB extension cord.

Does not work with Mac OS Sierra

Do not buy this if you are running Mac OS. If you upgrade to Sierra (10.12) the ethernet will not work. Very disappointing, will not be buying Belkin in the future.

A No-Go for Mac OS Sierra.

Belkin is not keeping the Mac Driver up to date. Reading the other posts in this thread - it looks like they wont ever. Returning non-supported product.

Mac people with driver issues: note new driver available now

I found this because I was following links for a similar StarTech product which I also have one of, and apparently uses the same chipset, therefore needs the same driver. When I ran the driver installer on one of my 10.11 systems I got a warning that the driver could not be loaded after the installer ran but before I clicked the Restart button that it presented. After Restart it worked fine in spite of that warning. Look for this driver AX88179_178A_macOS_10.9_to_10.15_Driver_Installer_v2.18.0 or go to the following page and fill in all the fields to search for the correct driver for you. https://www.asix.com.tw/en/support/download

Ethernet does not work! Worthless to me!

Using a MacBook Pro running Yosemite. I already have an Anker brand USB3.0 three port hub with Ethernet. I've been using it for about two years now and since I have had it, it will occasionally will drop the internet connection and so then I have to unplug and replug back in the Ethernet cable. So I bought this Belkin brand USB3.1 hub with Gigabit Ethernet and I can not get an internet connection with it, but I sure can with my older Anker unit. Therefore after less than one hour's use I have to go through the hassles of returning this unit.

I now have two of these. I use it to transfer large files and do backups to a USB drive all the time. I got the original 9 months ago for my laptop when the drivers with the new Windows 10 wouldn't stay connected to my original network adapter from someone else. This one has been flawless, so it was a no-brainer when I needed another one for my wife's new laptop.
