The Kopul CBT-MF is a professional-quality cable tester with a split-chassis design that allows users to test the continuity of a wide variety of cables with a single device. It quickly identifies connectivity and ground problems in some of the most frequently-used cables, and makes troubleshooting audio and studio setups fast and effortless.

The split chassis allows users to separate the two halves of the CBT-MF. This feature provides an easy way to test the continuity of long cables that have been run through walls or ceilings as well as cables that have been put into audio or home theater installations. LED indicators and tones verify that each pin on the cable is properly connected. For additional functionality, the CBT-FM generates a test tone, great for troubleshooting a variety of connections.

The CBT-MF can test cables with any combination of Speakon 4-pin, XLR 3-pin, XLR 5-pin, TRS, DIN 3-pin/5-pin, RCA, RJ45, RJ11, BNC, or TRS 3.5mm connectors. Two removable leads are included for testing any kind of wire or cable with jacks that are not included on this model. They also allow for testing connections when building or repairing cables or when wiring studios or audio installations.

The CBT-MF is ideal for home, project, and professional studio use. Constructed with lightweight and durable plastic, the CBT-MF is a road-ready tool for studio techs and install engineers.

Kopul CBT-MF Reviews

Not reliable

This is my second one of these. Both have broken so that certain lights don't light up. This is a major problem when testing cables because it looks like every cable you test with this device is broken when its the tester itself that is broken. The construction is poor enough that they only last literally a few hours of light use. I've gone through 2 of these both only lasting a day or two before breaking.

Excellent Tester

I had been terminating SDI cables with BNC connectors and finding out later that they were not done correctly. This tester has allowed me to make sure the cables were correctly done every time.

Ok with reservations

It works ok, but the scan function is a bit annoying, would like manual scan as well Other reviewers gave bad reports on this for it failing,, too soon to report on longevity The "split" feature is great, I might caution Using if phantom power is present? Will have to reread the manual on that if that is even mentioned.

Too much plastic

This was purchased to upgrade from a Behringer CT-100. Positives: The ability to test many types of cables Can test installed cables because of the ability to separate the cable IN from the cable OUT Has test tone capability For a more indepth look at this model look on YouTube for Testing the Audio Cable Testers Automatically tests connectors when turned on - No dials to choose number of pins Cons: So much plastic So much ill fitting plastic (trouble with battery doors) Needs 2 9v batteries Battery connectors become loose when trying to close the battery doors Did I mention the cheap feeling plastic? Because of the plastic I doubt this model can be counted on to last in the field for a long time

Not reliable. Slides apart

When you are testing cables you need to know with confidence that your tester is working. Otherwise there is no way of knowing if the problem is the tester or the cable. This tester worked great for me at first. Not long after first using it to test ethernet runs in my building the light for connection 5 stopped working. Of course at first I thought this meant my cable runs were broken. After testing with cables I know are good, because I used a multimeter to test them, I learned that it was this tester that was broken. Its brand new in great condition. Other than that the sliding fit between the 2 sides does not hold. The unit will slide apart effortlessly with just gravity if you hold it in one hand. The construction is just decent plastic but the screws holding it together were all different sizes.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. The inclusion of the continuity tester/probes is also nice. Great for theater/live production techs.

question

Does this tester serves for SDI HD cable? RG-59
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, we use this tester to check HD SDI (BNC) Cables. Not it only tests continuity and not impedance.

Can this test cables with different connector ...

Can this test cables with different connector types on each end? For example XLR on one end and TRS on the other.
Asked by: Kenneth
Yes, even with TRS to RCA or other mismatched balanced/unbalanced cables. You just have to recognize that the reason it is showing one of three wires faulted is because RCA has only 2 wires by design.

question

Will this unit test the shield on a shielded Cat6?
Asked by: Topher
I did not purchase this unit, I bought the lower unit dedicated to analog audio. Your answer may be best answered by the manufacturer. On my balanced audio cables it does not test the shield.

question

Does the tone generator send the tones on all of the connectors, including the RJ45? Can one use an inductive probe to trace wires with the generated tones?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it sends a tone on RJ45. The tone is only to signal 1st line as it cycles through the 8 lines of ethernet cable. The additional continuity is tested using the 8 led's
