Ideal for location interviews, B&H has put together this V-mount Dracast Pro Series LED500 Bi-Color LED Light Panel 2-light kit. The kit is comprised of two Pro Series LED500 bi-color lights, each with a multi-voltage power adapter, a case, and a light stand.

Dracast Pro Series LED500 Bi-Color LED Light Panel (V-Mount)

Featuring a V-mount battery plate, the Pro Series LED500 Bi-Color LED Light Panel from Dracast is an ideal choice for location work, interviews, and small sets where color accuracy, control, and flicker-free output are of major importance. Variable color temperature from 3200 to 5600K means you can quickly match the prevailing ambient or artificial light balance with a simple twist of a knob while others are still applying filters. Dimming is equally convenient via another knob that adjusts the light intensity from 0 to 100% with negligible color shift. Additionally, its high CRI of 96 renders colors with precision and fidelity. The low electrical draw of just 30W means a timely return on your investment.

The durable anodized aluminum frame is supported by an oversized, U-shaped yoke with locking knobs on each side and a standard 5/8" receiver. This compact 12 x 6" panel can be used worldwide, powered by the included 100 to 240 VAC adapter in the studio, or by V-mount batteries in the field. Four-way barndoors for contouring and control of the LED500's 45° beam angle are available separately. For protection during transport and storage, a carry case is included.

Dracast LED500 Pro Bi-Color Reviews

Get what you pay for

Light is built to the price point . The carrying case zipper on all 3 cases literally broke with jn the first 3 days of use . Broke as in the metal broke . Flimsy. The stands are also fragile and good only for limited use.

Not adjustable or bright enough

I have two of these now and I just want more power. I knew going into it not expecting great power results, but.... However, my biggest complaint, and maybe its user error is that you cannot adjust the tilt of the light when you are using the batteries. The battery gets in the way. Kind of a real bummer.

Excellent Build Quality!

This LED panel is very high quality. Robust and metal body. One of the best built LED panels I’ve handled. The knobs are smooth and easy to operate. The V-mount battery option is a massive plus for me as I’m always shooting in locations with no power outlets. No flicker. Smaller than I imagined, with a very soft throw as a bare panel. I’m using this as a fill or backlight and the quality of light, although soft, is very nice. I got the barn doors and diffusion panels sold separately and it definitely increased the functionality of the light. Those add ones are a must if you want to get the most out of this light. Since this is a bi-color light, you lose light output depending on the color temperature you select. I did not have any color shifting issues when increasing power output. The time of this light is very robust, and has teeth so that it locks in the position you tilt it into. This can make it hard to make quick small adjustments but once you set it, this light isn’t going anywhere. Make sure you get a sand bag and light stand with a bigger load capacity if you want to really get the most out of this unit.

This thing is really well built. Well worth the money. Works better than expected. Totally happy with it. Should have bought another. Probably still will.

Nicely packaged lighting

The package came nicely sealed by Dracast, inside the paper box, the light was sealed inside anti-static plastic bag. So I knew this was un-opened and brand new. Tested the light was nice and bright, it has an alternating LED diodes, one set for bright white, and the alternating for warm ones. The knobs were sturdy and responsive to the tuning.

V-Mounts don't fit new Dracast Plate

By James

I have numerous light sets, including three Dracast S-Series lights. But none of the V-mount battery plates I have will fit on these two new LED 500 units. The pin shoe is about 2 mm narrower on the ID on these newer V-mount bases preventing the battery plate from sliding forward to engage the five conductor pins. They look identical but the existing shoes I have won't mount to the two LED500's I bought. I haven't contacted anyone yet, but why should I have to. I paid money for poor quality control. I was warned about Dracast quality. Return is imminent!

From the ordering to the unboxing and setup was excellent. Very happy with the simplicity of the quality and ease of use. Highly recommend.

Good light for the price

This light is pretty great for the price. Nice even light with the ability to easily control temperature and brightness. My issue with this light is the V-Mount Battery Plate. The light is made of sturdy construction except for the v-mount plate which is made of cheap plastic and broke within the first 6 months of light use. Would have been a 5-star rating except I don't like shortcuts and they definitely took one with the v-mount plate.

How many of these lights would I need for a 2 person shoot?
Asked by: Walter
This will largely depend on the look you are trying to create as well as how you shoot. If you are lighting two subjects simultaneously, you will need to take that into consideration as opposed to lighting single subjects individually. Multiple light sources will allow you to fill shadows, but so will bounce cards or reflectors. Also, additional lights will allow for additional angles (e.g. back lighting) that will give more contour to your subjects. Lastly, you will need to consider if you are only lighting subjects or are you lighting set pieces as well. So, to answer your question: You could use a single light. You could also use three. If you're just lighting subjects, I would recommend between two and six of these fixtures. If you are lighting set pieces, add lighting accordingly.

question

How many lights can I put on a 15 amp circuit? How many Amps per light?
Asked by: Mark
Mark,For a 15 Amp circuit, you first need to multiply by the Volts. If we use 110, that gives us 1650 Watts for that circuit. However, most electricians recommend no more than 80% of capacity, so that leaves us with 1320 Watts. The LED500 runs on 30 Watts, so if we divide that into 1320 it tells us that you can run 44 of these lights on a typical 15 Amp circuit. // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected].

question

How far is the throw at 100% intensity?
Asked by: Geoffrey W.
These things put out a good amount of light. I was shooting video this past weekend in a police dispatch center where the lights are normally quite low. I set up one light about six feet from one of the dispatchers with the power set at about half. I had a very pleasing fill light on the face of the person I was filming.
