Miops Camera Trigger

The MIOPS Camera Trigger is a versatile way to capture images using lightning, sound, or laser to trigger your camera or flash. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity depending on your given shooting situation.

In addition to the lightning, sound, laser, timelapse, and HDR modes enable additional creative output. An external port can connect to various sensors to trigger your camera based on variables such as temperature, pressure, or humidity. An app for either iOS or Android allows you to control the MIOPS from your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity. When not using a smartphone, all functions can be controlled by a color LCD screen on the unit.

Lightning Mode
A built-in light sensor detects changes in light and triggers your camera's shutter in just a few nanoseconds. You can capture only bright lightning strikes, or the smallest strikes, simply by adjusting the sensitivity. This mode can also be used to capture fireworks, or other events where you need to capture images based on changes in light.
Laser Mode
The MIOPS has a built-in sensor to detect when a laser beam is broken, thereby triggering your camera's shutter. This is useful for detecting subjects such as water drops, animals, or intruders when conducting surveillance.
Sound Mode
MIOPS's built-in microphone can detect sound, triggering your camera or flash to capture things like breaking glass, or a popping balloon. You can adjust the delay of the trigger as well as the sensitivity of amount of sound needed to trigger the shutter.
Timelapse Mode
This mode lets you specify the interval time anywhere between one second and one hour, as well as how many photos to take. The LCD screen will turn off to save energy, allowing you to take a timelapse photo for days, or even months if you use an external power source.
HDR Mode
Even if your camera doesn't have a bracketing feature, MIOPS allows you to set a center exposure, as well as the over and under exposures needed in order to make an HDR image.
External Port
A port on the MIOPS can accept any external trigger that has an output signal between 0V and 3V, such as a temperature, pressure, or humidity sensor.
Combining Sensors
You can combine sensors with MIOPS's Scenario feature by creating a custom scenarios with up to five different steps. For example, you can set the MIOPS to start taking timelapse photos only after it detects lightning.
Triggering Your Camera and Flash
MIOPS has two dedicated outputs, one for a flash, and another for a camera. They are electrically isolated from each other, reducing risk of a short circuit. The MIOPS trigger can be used with multiple cameras (not simultaneously) by simply changing the camera connection cable.
Mini-USB Port
The mini-USB port allows you to charge your Li-ion battery, as well as update the MIOPS's firmware.
Compatibility
MIOPS can be used with any cameras which have a remote shutter trigger port or an IR port, and any and flash units with a PC sync jack.

Great Product

I've had countless issues with other triggers in the past, especially when you have multiple photographers shooting in the same spot using them! I had a night shoot recently and this was a dream to use! I cannot wait to test out with more scenarios!

So far I love it.

I like how this allows me to us my phone to trigger the camera. Funny thing is I live in Kansas and since purchased this lighting trigger we haven't had a single storm. and looking 10 days out there is nothing in the forecast hopping to get to use the lighting trigger soon but the wireless trigger part work very well. I did use it to shoot fireworks last week.

The miops is a good product. It has helped me with experimenting with my photography.

less than stellar IOS operation.

The unit operates fine (except HDR) when used independantly of the IOS app. With the IOS app on my Ipod touch, The remote cable function does not work. (It won't activate the shutter) The HDR function only allows a center exposure range of 1/15 to 15 seconds (a rather useless range) Fortunately both my camera bodies have a built in bracketing function. And one can't upgrade the software if one uses an apple computer.

As of right now this only gets 1 star and a buyer beware! There is no manuals or documentation with this. I can not find any thing on the web for this only there kickstart page and on there I found there is a manual but its only available to people If you're a backer of this project. There is a 2 year warranty on the box but NO INFO on what the warranty is or how to even get in touch with miops. With out a manual or way to in in touch with miops I think I am going to send this back.

Im using this on a Nikon D7500. Followed the instructions to download latest firmware. Downloaded the Miops Mobile AND Miops Smart (just in case). Used Miops Mobile because Miops Smart told me I should. Recognized device. All set to go until the portion I wanted to use stated I needed the Dongle. And the laser? I needed a separate laser for that. Starting to get more expensive. And... in the first try? The mobile no longer recognized anything and put me in demo mode.

Nice to have

This trigger is a great tool to add to your kit. It's easy to use and works well but does take some time to figure out the right camera settings each time you want to use it. With practice you can capture great shots.

question

I have Nikon 800, 7000 and a 7200. Will one model of the Miops work on all 3 cameras. In other words is it compatible or do I need different triggers? Thanks. Patti
Asked by: Patti G.
The Vello 2.5mm Remote Shutter Release Cable for Nikon DC-2 Cameras included with the Miops Smart Camera Trigger with Cable for Nikon MC-DC2 Cameras Kit is compatible for use with the Nikon D7000 and D7200 DSLR cameras, both which use the MC-DC2 remote terminal. However, the Nikon D800 DSLR camera uses the Nikon 10-pin remote terminal. As such, you would have to purchase the Vello 2.5mm Remote Shutter Release Cable for Nikon 10-Pin Cameras, B&H # VERCCN125, to use the remote with the Nikon D800 DSLR camera.

What is the difference between the Smart+ and the FLEX?
Asked by: Kanon
The differences between the two units is the FLEX offers camera control from a smartphone/tablet, allows you to transfer images to a smartphone, allows social media shering, lightning stitching, Live framing, image backup, focus stacking, assisted geo-tagging, and advanced HDR capabilities, as well as timelapse preview on the go and holy grail timelapse. The Smart+ offers stand-alonge usage without a smartphone, offers bulb ramping timelapse, and for remote & long exposure without smartphone, it has cable release, press & hold, press & lock, timed release, self-timer, and timed release with self-timer capabilities. It also has a built-in LCD screen and has battery life for 4 days, wherease the FLEX would have approximately 2 hours battery life.

What cable do I need for the Nikon d600?
Asked by: Anonymous
I don'y know. I have a Canon DSLR. But it's not strictly dedicated to Canon. I'm guessing it does, but check your Nikon manual for infra red. And ask B&H. They are very helpful in answering phone questions.
