E-Image PS-C Reviews

It's okay, but be cautious...

I purchased 2 of these for my SONY FX-9s. The SONY VCT plates were out of stock at the time, so I decided to go with these. These E-Image adapters are pretty decent and work well with the FX-9. However, while on a shoot a few days ago, I was taking the camera off the sticks and the quick release lever snapped off and broke into about 3 pieces. Keep in mind, I have only used this adapter plate maybe 3 or 4 times. It's still useable, but now, having missed the B&H return window I have to go through the E-Image website to attempt to facilitate a return and receive a new one. Wish me luck!

Top quality, can't go wrong

I am very happy with the E-Image VCT plate. It is very well made, solid, robust, no cheap plastic here. I have putt it through all kinds of conditions out in the elements, rain, snow, harsh sun and dusty, the plate still works as it did on the first day. I strongly recommend it.

Very well made - works perfectly

This adapter is as good as any brand I've ever used (including the "original") and locks in very solidly without effort. It is perfect and the build quality is great. If anything, the plastic on the release lever knob may seem not too heavy duty, but it works and time will tell.

A pleasant surprise

Surprisingly well made. I have had the plate out a number of jobs with the URSA Mini Pro. A lightweight camera package. Plate holds camera securely. The lock and release mechanism is functioning well. No issues to date.

Great product at great price.

I use this with the SmallRig quick release shoulder plate. Works as promised and solves the shoulder mount issue with my Red Weapon.

Epic-W on SmallRig VCT-14 Shoulder Mount to E-Image VCT-14

This VCT-14 plate works with the SmallRighttp://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-vct-14-shoulder-plate-1954.html I've used the Sony OEM VCT-14 plate countless times, and I was looking for either a good used VCT-14 or a cheap alternative... I can't speak to the plate's durability, because I've only had it for short time and have only had it out on one shoot so far. That being said, this plate works, and I personally take very good care of my equipment, so I'm happy with it.

Decent quality, works well

Have two of these units, mounted to Libec LX10 tripods. Mounting URSA Broadcast units with Shoulder Mount Kits to these work well. Sometimes when mounting, the rear nut does not lock due to the camera tilting a bit forward. Easy to fix when you're aware of it, and locks very well when properly engaged. These haven't been treated very gently, yet has held up quite nicely. Not great quality (some plastic pieces on the handle etc), but decent. Will buy again.

Terrible

I dont think they even test these. Literally stuck on the URSA Mini shoulder kit. Absurdly difficult to take the camera off. Other nicer VCT-14s, you click that release level and the camera slides right off. This gets stuck and you end up tilting your tripod head while its locked down all the way. Horrible product.

question

Can someone explain or show a pic on how this attached to the FS7!
Asked by: Derrick D.
The Sony FS7 has a standard threading underneath it to connect to a tripod's quick release plate. As the FS7 ships it is not compatible with this VCT-14 Type adapter nor is it necessary to use. However we do have a number of Baseplate Products designed for the FS7. If you used such products from Shape, Tilta or Vocas to give your FS7 a nicer shoulder mount and 15mm rod support you would then need this VCT-14 Adapter to connect it to a tripod.

question

Can this be used with the Ursa-mini with the shoulder mount kit and not have it interfere with the shoulder cushion?
Asked by: Christopher
You mount this plate to the tripod (with a plate that fits your particular head) and the camera slides on and locks. Then you flip the side lever, slide the camera off, and place it on your shoulder. It is not used at the same time as the shoulder mount. I use it with the Zacuto VCT Universal baseplate. Have also used it on URSA, but haven't tried it on the mini.

As long as the SmallRig is a true VCT-14 wedge, it'll work beautifully.
