Gefen HDMI EDID Detective Plus
Key Features
  • Supports Resolutions up to 1080p Full HD
  • 1 x Mini-B USB Connector
  • Records the EDID of an HDMI Display
  • 256 Bytes EDID Memory Size
The HDMI EDID Detective Plus from Gefen keeps HDMI sources and displays in sync. This device has been designed specifically to ensure that a connected high-definition source sends compatible audio and video signals without losing the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data). This is done by recording the HDMI display EDID and making it available to the high definition source reliably and on a continuous basis.

With DDC re-clocking technology, the reliability of HDCP handshaking is improved, ensuring that the high definition source always receives the correct EDID. Using the Gefen EDID Tool+ PC software or terminal emulation via USB, the installer can also manipulate/modify the EDID data to meet installation-specific requirements and resolve system-specific compatibility issues. The device has been designed for quick and easy programming and installation.

How long does it take to record EDID? I only get double green flash, no rapid flashing as stated in directions, only two green flashes no matter what I do. I've done this for a few minutes and nothing happens. I m recording edid for my TV. Does it matter what HDMI jack it's put into?
Asked by: Leslie I.
A few seconds. The double flash is indicating EDID acquisition. Double check all of your connections.

Has anyone used this to get dvd/blu ray into a video switcher like Kramer?
Asked by: Travis
Yes it will, if your Kramer will work with HDCP protected content and pass EDID.

I have a DVI-D PC monitor. When I use an HDMI to DVI cable, audio is not passed because the monitor's EDID tells the device it does not support audio. Can I use this to force audio to my monitor? Maybe spoof the input device to think its a regular HDMI monitor so it passes audio. I need to pass audio because I'd like to use an HDMI audio extractor in between.
Asked by: Jimmy
As others have said, DVI doesn't support audio output. This will not work for you unfortunately.

How do you change source to output 1080i? I need to change my 1080p camera to shoot out 1080i so my atem switcher will recognize it.

Hi there, B&H have asked me to try and advise you when using a Gefen HDMI Detective. Firstly the frame rate of your camera thru to your switcher is not changed by using this device. If your camera has the capabilty for different resolutions and frame rates, then you must carry out this procedure from within the menu of the camera. Normally most vision switchers require all sources to be the same or it will not recognise them. Hope this helps you.

does this do 3d?
Asked by: Justin P.
Yes it does! I am currently using it to do exactly what you're asking about. You just set up the HDMI Detective for the highest denominator configuration and it will pass 3D if you put it on the input to your splitter.
